Making fun of him was uncalled for. Some easy words are often the easiest to spell wrong. I don't know how many times I've transposed The to be spelled Teh or added an extra h when I'm just typing quickly.

One word I often misspell is truly. I have a tendency to put an extra e in there and wind up with truely.

Edit - I should never post stuff after my bedtime. Pretend this post ends here. :)

Honestly, I've never understood how so many people can misspell so frequently. I mean, you're sitting in front of the greatest resource in human history. A couple of clicks and a small amount of typing on language websites will quickly reveal proper spelling and sentence structure. I can understand messing up once in a while, but honestly it's rare to find proper grammar and spelling anymore.

I've spent considerable time learning and developing my own writing and grammar skills. Every time I read a sentence that's a grammatical mess, I force myself to mentally correct it because I don't want to lose what I've put so much effort into. If I just overlook errors when I'm reading, I'll probably start making those same errors myself and that's a trap I'm not willing to fall into.

Remember kids, Grammar Nazis aren't trying to make you feel bad. They're trying to save future generations from Idiocracy.

Most of my misspellings are typos, and I really have no idea how to spell typo or if it is even a word. I've had occasion to spell eensy weensy on this forum, and I don't know if that is a real phrase either. The word I have to think most about is calendar, and I always know it ends in "ar", but I can't help but question it. I just typed "titillates" on another thread, and I know I spelled it correctly, but it makes me dizzy just to look at it. So in the end, I guess I get stuck on when and when not to use a hyphen.

I frequently type it too quickly and wind up with "teh."

I type it that way more than the correct way.

I was unclear. The purpose of this thread was to explore the various words we misspell sans the employment of spell checks or research (as if one were to write a dear Jane letter from the trenches without a dictionary on hand.

I don't have a problem with spelling masturbation but more than a few do. I do have a few I never seem to spell correctly, but they're generally big, multi-syllable words. My spellling has improved since I became a published author and had editors breathing down my neck. I also learned how to use apostrophes correctly. Unfortunately I am multi-lingual and sometimes my grammar heads into French, my other language, so simpler may become more simple (from the French plus simple), for example.

Insomnia rears its ugly head again, and it causes people to do strange things...

Eensy is not a word, which makes eensy weensy an invalid phrase.
Both teensy and weensy are words, and teensy-weensy is correct.
Synonyms for these include itty-bitty, itsy-bitsy and teeny-weeny.
Don't forget your hyphens...lol! And, no, we are not talking about cock size!

    Typo is a real word.

This is not nearly as fun and naughty as the last time I had insomnia like this.

"Any" is my problem word. I have sometimes avoided using it because I couldn't remember how to spell it. I keep thinking it starts with e and even though I know that's wrong, I get stuck and freeze on that simple little word.

I think one of the words that I've seen spelled incorrectlythe most is the word "lose". If I had a dollar for everytime I've seen it spelled "loose" I'd be a very rich man.

I've seen it as much in a professional sense as I have any other and it's not close.
