Yeast lives naturally a few different places in the body. The vagina is one. Sometimes the pH of the vagina will get out of whack and the yeast is able to grow mostly uncontrolled (this can happen because of douches, oral sex, sex, wearing a wet swimsuit or any number of things)

to get rid of it, go to walmart and pick up a pack of monistat,

In that case send her to the doc right away... there is a great prescription called Diflucan (fluconazole) that I used to have a standing prescription for when i was having a lot of yeast infections. One pill, clears it up quick

You have to get treated for it, too, or you'll just end up passing it back and forth (guys rarely have symptoms). Go see your doc, as well.

I think you should call your doc's office and ask them, or she could ask her gyn. All I know is that the guy is usually infected when a woman develops a yeast infection, and the advice that's always given is that the guy should be treated at the same time. How you would go about that, since you can't stick cream or a suppository up your urethra, I have no clue. Maybe you only need to apply externally. *shrugs*
