UPDATE on my truck shopping saga...

Ok, so here's the deal, We went to the first truck dealership Saturday, and of course they made us test drive something that was gorgeous, but could not afford by a long shot. It was a 2008 GMC Sierra 2500. God, what a sweet ride!

We are interested in a 2007 GMC Sierra 2500 4WD work truck with an extended cab and a long box. We were not able to see the truck, it's at a different dealship in another state, but can be delivered to the dealer we are doing business with.

So, we sat down to negotiate and right off the pissed me off so bad I put on my coat. They only offered us $4k on our truck as trade-in. (The bluebook trade-in value is $6,200) They would not come down on the MSRP much, so we'd be looking at $30,700 for the truck.

When the salesmen saw us ready to leave, he called in the manager, he made a call and bingo, they upped the trade-in to 5K. They still wouldn't budge on the msrp, so we left. When we got home, there was a message saying they'd give us $5,500 for our truck.

My husband is going to the dealership after work either today or tomorrow to try to get the price down a bit and close the deal...I hope he brought his fucking checkbook! :lol

Yesterday, the old man went to the dealer and wowed them with his negotiating skills. So, once it's delivered to the dealer, and had cruise control put in, I will have myself a brand spanking new dick magnet to drive around.

    Woo fuckin' hoo![IMG]

New truck on the way, satisfied pussy, what more could a girl want?

The Tundra just won Truck of the Year.
The Nissan Titan is the equal of any other non-diesel truck in towing capacity.

They also have transmissions that don't take a giant shit every 110K miles. Now, If you'll excuse me. I have both imports and domestics in my possible after college car-list. Of course ... the two domestics are the Mustang Terminator and a C5 Vette.

God help my insurance payments... :lol

But go ahead and drive a rusty Toyota.

You are completely free to do that. Just .. as a car geek I can tell you that just because it's made in the USA in no way guarantees quality, performance, or reliability.

On the racing side... show me an American Company in F1, show me an American Company in the World Rally Champ., Show me an American in the GT cups. The one place an American company has been able to compete and win is in La Mans, but even there it's the C6R against the Aston Martin DB9.

I stand by my statement. Oh and for all of you import haters. The new Nissan Skyline GTR beat the Corvette Z06's time around the Nurburgring in Germany, ran away from the 911 turbo they were tesing it against, and generally kicks the shit out of American/Europen cars twice its price.

The same can be said for the Japanese. I'm not against the imports. However I can't stand listening to brainwashed idiots who think that quality is an exclusive feature of Japanese vehicles. :ugh Dodge is the only truck manufacturer with major transmission problems. And they've had transmission problems for a long time now. For a TRUCK, I don't think the imports can touch the power or capacity of GM or Ford.

And before you jump down my throat, I have both an import and a domestic in my driveway currently. And they're both great. By limiting your choices you're doing just that, limiting your choices.

Is that what you drive, Or is that just a fantasy.
I think CL was talking a work truck to haul
a horse trailer, Not a fantasy car to race around Nuenburg.

    Motor Trend disagrees with you...
I understand that you are limiting your choices and I'm more than willing to admit that in the diesel-powered sphere for trucks there is nothing better than an American.
If you aren't getting a diesel I would take a Toyota or Nissan. they have a better track record of reliability and lower recall numbers.

First off you are wrong. The Automobile originated in Europe. Yes we made a lot of advances including the first car to introduce Dual Overhead Cams (the 1929 Model J Dusenberg), but do I need to remind you that the Japs have done all kinds of interesting things like introduce Variable Valve Timing?

Now second of all you said best cars in the world. Go ahead, wrap yourself in the flag. The problem is that you failed to say what we're best at automotively. I would certainly disagree with you. I think there are some good American cars/trucks. But they are certainly not the "best" on any objective level.

And I drive a Honda. Yes it's old, yes it will hopefully getting replaced after I graduate. *gasp* Maybe by an American made car. I hate people that stick to one one country. You show me a car that's American made and I can find you a foreign make that does things better. (Well there is one exception. The American SSC Aero holds the production car land-speed record but both Bugatti and Koenigsegg are working to break it again.)

The japs have only improved some things.
Almost all innovations comes from Detroit.
Any way I am an American and I will buy American made products
And just who cares about land speed records their is no
highways to run them on. I once had 2006 Nissan Marado to drive while
While my 2000 Pontiac Montana was being repaired and I found it to be non-
functional. Nissan 5 pass, Pontiac 7 pass. Nissan very little luggage room
Pontiac- all anyone needs. Nissan 22 mpg, Pontiac 24 mpg.
Cup holder is unusable. The dash needs a computer expert to do
anything, Pontiac push a button, Nissan luggage rack is unusable and only
their for show, Towing I didn't check.
But all that is water under the bridge as my real reason for buying
American products is so Americans will have jobs.
