Perfumes/scents created to smell like your loved one(s). To use in case of a temporary or permanent absence.

So, would you spend your money on something like this?

Why spend 600 bucks. My girlfriend keeps one of my t shirts under her pillow for when I'm not there so that she can cuddle into it and still smell me. 600 bucks saved :)

No, I'd rather spend the $600 to go see her.

I think it's important to note this service is primarily for those who have had their loved ones die (as in permanent absence). So the scent is to keep something of them alive, past what a t-shirt or whatever could hold over the years.

    Does that change anyone's answer?

To be honest if anything i personally think its worse. Its only one step away from instead of having them burried having them stuffed and mounted instead. By all means have things/keepsakes that remind you of your loss, but not their musk/body parts or fluids/exfoliates etc.

No, (I already knew that from looking at your link.)

Keeping a scent of him (if this company can truly capture his true, true "essence/scent") that would be more upsetting to me to be able to smell him, but not able to touch him. Overall, I think it would be more heart wrenching....

If anything, I would consider something I saw on FB, where they add the loved ones ashes in with glass and make a very cool decorative piece from it. (Much nicer than an Urn on the mantle....)

I bet there are plenty of people who'd find comfort in that. Not for me, though. I would love to capture the smell of my grandma's kitchen or a new backpack from when I was little...

Nah, I would consider to have a bottle made of an ex's smell though, would make a better repellent than pepper spray.

    Putting in my two cents:
I probably would pursue something like this in the event my most loved were to die unexpectedly before me (not for a temporary absence, though - that is ridiculous to me). I know it would be painful, in part, but also having that something of them would be a relief. Scent is one of the senses most closely tied to memory (supposedly), so I'd think a Personal Scent Perfume would help bring up those memories.

It's like how certain smells always immediately call to mind my grandfather - who was very near and dear to me - and yeah, it hurts a bit, but the positive emotions tied to the memories outweigh that pang of sadness.

Bittersweet in its most sincere form.

I definitely understand the arguments against and that it's maybe even a bit "weird" or "creepy," but for me this idea makes sense. Like I said maybe I'm just an emotional masochist - or maybe that weird thing of human chemistry is wired differently for me than for many others.
