Since :sf has a bit of an international flavor amongst its' members I was wondering if we have any soccer fans here.

The 2006 World Cup kicks off in Germany in less than two weeks.

I'm pulling for my home nation, USA. But if they drop out I have always loved England so I'll go with them as far as they can go.

Where are you from? Which teams will you be pulling for?

Here are the 32 nations that made it to the finals in Germany from over two hundred nations that entered the qualifying rounds.

    GROUP A
    Germany
    Costa Rica
    Poland
    Ecuador

    GROUP B
    England
    Paraguay
    Trinidad & Tobago
    Sweden

    GROUP C
    Argentina
    Côte d'lvoire (Ivory Coast)
    Serbia & Montenegro
    Netherlands

    GROUP D
    Mexico
    Iran
    Angola
    Portugal

    GROUP E
    Italy
    Ghana
    USA
    Czech Republic

    GROUP F
    Brazil
    Croatia
    Australia
    Japan

    GROUP G
    France
    Switzerland
    Korea Republic
    Togo

    GROUP H
    Spain
    Ukraine

Sweden could only get a point (0 - 0 draw) out of their opener with Trinidad & Tobago - the smallest country ever to qualify for the finals and the first ever trip to the World Cup for T & T. And Sweden had a man advantage from early in the first half due to a T & T player receiving a red card. What's up with that Krof & Puss? :rofl

Germany, the host country for the finals, had little trouble (4 - 2) doing away with Costa Rico and collecting the full three points on Friday.

And my beloved England side pulled three points out of their opener (1 - 0) with Paraguay.
