I know you can find a lot of the books at adult stores or on line, so where do you find the best reads??

Shades of gray is a pathetic excuse for a book. The subsequent stories are worse.

They read like they were written by a twelve year old. If you want tasteful erotic stories, go to an adult store, they have a book section. Hell, go to a used book store and buy a $1 bag of twenty harlequin romance novels.

I get them from our public library and I'm not joking. 50 Shades of Grey was unusually bad.

Any theories on why it was such a huge best seller?

In my humble ( ) theory, society is desperate for any little sexual reference, as long as they can say it isn't actually porn. Every little up-skirt and nipple slip. If I understand correctly, the book wasn't marketed as porn. I think it wasn't even marketed as romance, or "hot romance." It was a mainstream book, published in hard cover, so people could feel OK about themselves as they read it and leered and got breathless.

Hooray for the library! I never buy books unless it is a reference material I will use over and over. I read the first two or three chapters of 50 Shades of Grey at the library. I saw it on the reserve shelf waiting to be picked up by a person whose name was close to mine in the alphabet. The chunky cream colored sweater description killed it for me.
