I feel that i'm quite independent despite being in a relationship, but i have realised that my boyfriends friends girlfriends (if that made any sense!) are more clingy.. this made me wonder..

Do you prefer a partner who is clingy or more independent in a relationship?

Independent. Why anyone would want to be smothered is beyond my level of understanding.

I LOVE affection from a woman (sexual or non-sexual...touch is one of my love languages), but I don't need her to be glued to me to such an extent that I can't take a wizz without her. :lol Affectionate is VERY attractive...needy is not.

Independent but showing you care is good (affection), just getting clingy where you can't function on your own is not.

Yeah, needy people are not cool. Unless they are kids. Kids cannot help it.

Yes, well I meant people who depend on another in order to have an identity. People who depend on others for everything are needy. Some needs are healthy. Constant needs are not. Perhaps clingy is a better word....There is a difference between wanting to be in contact or around someone everyday because they make you happy, and wanting to be with another person because you cannot function without them.

if you avent guessed independant i dont think anyone would say needy even if they did prefer that as it would reveal an obvious weakness in their own character

I can't imagine anyone wanting a "clingy" partner. However, I'm sure there are some people who expect such a high level of devotion and dedication from their partners that they are always at their beck and call. My ex was like that. Any independent thoughts on my part were violently suppressed.

My wife and I always make sure the other knows where we are, in case of emergency, but generally go and do our own thing. Luckily we like to do many things together, but if we go to a big party, when we get there, we'll say, "See you around." If we run into each other later, we might belt out a dance or hang out, cop a feel and maybe compare notes for a few minutes. Never done a quickie in a closet though. Might put that on my list of things to do before I die.:lol
