I am stuck at home following a shoulder surgey. Movement is limited, driving is not allowed.
At this point I have already been at home a month.
I am facing another 3 weeks in my recliner chair.
And 3 month at home until I can return to work.
I have some pain and discomfort, but it's not too bad.
This week I am struggling with feeling really down.
I don't know what to do with my time.

Can you crop pictures? Do an online scrapbook?

Can you schedule some lunch dates with friends?

Do you have any hobbies like cooking? Create a cookbook.

Roll coins? (I'm having trouble thinking)

Yes I have a family and I worked. I spent my evenings in the gym.
Not much spare time after that. Then I would read and watch Netfix.

You know you have the support of all members here who want to give you cheer and to help you smile. In practical terms if you think about it there are probably things you ould do from your chair to help pass the time :- as an example could you go through all your recipies and sort out the best ones . even consider writing a cookery book or write down your experiences since your accident and describe how you have managed to overcome some of the practical problems you have had. You might have a best seller !
Read that book you have always meant to read.
Now might be a good time to do your tax return if it is necessary.
It is very similar in a way to being retired except that I have a pension and therefore cannot compare to your situation. Personally I spend a lot of time (too much ! ) on line on ths forum because I am addicted and I would not recommend that in the long term.
All these things may not appeal but boredom is difficult to overcome and I hope they may give some ideas.
I could think of more enjoyable ways to pass the time but not easily done from this distance. LOL
Whatever happens Sweetly you have my support and deepest affection and good wishes for you.

I tend to find stuff for my kids to do easier than myself. - crafts, ways to organize toys.

Take up writing. Write a daily log of your thoughts, your honest feelings, your dreams, your goals and then your imagination. Then outline them place and put them together and make a story or song or poem. Great therapy for the mind and will find yourself sometimes doing that. As well as consumes time in a productive way. You will be surprised what you put together doing this. :)

Writing is a good idea, if you don't like writing you may wanna download some series to watch. It's hard to say because I work at my computer so yeah.

Look at colleges? Scholarship guidelines, volunteer opportunities for them.

Maybe they can help with chores - find easy things for them to cook.

Another thought is painting, I have been known to do that as well, although I must admit, my mountain volcano scene would probably rated a c in second grade art class, it was good for the mind. I should maybe stick to stick people sketches. :p

Maybe I will write something personal, gets some thoughts in order. It might help me with other things I am struggling with.
I will look into a blog tomorrow.

lol I don't have an artistic bone in my body.
    Painting isn't for me!
My pics are about as artistic as I get and I can't do that right now!

    So make some books online.

If you want, I'll email you my pics and you can crop them for me. I'm over a year behind!

I once had surgery on my Achilles' tendon. Ended up off work for a few weeks & housebound for a good deal of that. After the first few weeks, when I was in a lot of pain & not sleeping much, I started to go a bit stir crazy. Like you my friends all work & the days can seem so long. I also felt a bit like I'd lost some purpose & focus in my life just sitting around as my job keeps me busy - and keeps my mind busy too. I like writing, so I did bits - some very personal & I never shared it, but it did me good. I'm not artistic, but I do love cooking so asked friends to donate magazines & things & I found & cut out recipes I wanted to try - ended up with a huge scrap book - & then I started trying to make new things. Filled my time & felt like I had a purpose again. There must be something like that that you have an interest in & could develop it further in the time you have. My dad was starting to research our family history too so I got involved with that.
Social contact with people is really important too
