I had just heard myself....Horrible. Love The Eagles!
Defintiely sucks, but hopefully this will bring a smile to your face. xx
This was some very sad news to hear, I play a lot of eagles especially acoustic stuff. This was one of my favorites. Everytime I hear their stuff I flashback to easier times driving the high plains out west listening to their stuff and watching those tequila sunrises. RIP Glen.
I'd be hard pressed to pick my favourite song, but this is definitely in the top five:
In 1985 I was working at big music venue. Glenn Frey was opening for Tina Turner for two nights of her Private Dancer tour. I was excited to see one of my music heroes but mostly uninterested in Tina Turner at the time only to be disappointed by Glenn Frey. Tina Turner on the other hand was amazing.
The next day's sound check was anything, but a peaceful easy feeling. Frey was screaming and cursing at his band. He was berating and threatening them. But it worked That night, the band rocked. Same songs as the night before but completely different show.
He was truly amazing.
Yes Frey and Hensly were definitely perfectionist, and Felder throwing into the egotistical mix as well. Then you had Joe who could elevate from a Tommy Chong state of mind to Sid Vicious in 6.9 seconds getting them barred from every hotel they stayed at. How they all stayed together to make that many hits through the years as long as they did is a accomplishment within itself. The definitely marked their spot in the Hall of fame.
Was lucky to have seen the Eagles twice in the last 6 years. Will miss him
Frey and Hensley Adding Joe put these guys over the top watching Joe's antics through the years he would have been the one you would have thought would have crashed and burned first. Gotta Love old Joe.
Geez , I haven't listened to the Eagles in probably 3 or 4 years. But two nights ago, I hooked up a tv and sound system in an extra room of the house we just moved into. Then I located my box of hundreds of concert DVDs that was packed away and started digging for a great concert to watch.. My choice was the Eagles farewell1 tour... RIP Glenn
And speaking of Joe, and glenn, .. One of my fav moments in that concert video, was when during Walsh's song " life's been good" joe modified one line and sang " I'm making records , my fans they can't wait... They write me letters, tell me Glenn's great" .... I laugh every time..
Unfortunately, Frey didn't crash and burn. He died from complications of colitis it's a disease that plagues far too many people.
