My wife is 34 years old and has had 4 children. She has been quite sexually repressed in her life (conservative religion...you get the picture), including during her married life to me for the past 15 years (we were both on board in the conservative religion).

Now we're breaking free of the religion and introducing things into our sex lives we've never dreamed about (yes, we've lead very sheltered lives to this point).

I bought her a vibrator. A small 4-inch slim, 3 speed 'starter' vibrator. She loved it. She used it for about 3-4 days (for about 20 minutes each time at night, in partnership with me doing my husbandly duties - wink wink) and was VERY turned on by it.

Then on day 5 there was a problem.

She couldn't fall asleep because her vagina was 'vibrating' on it's own. The next morning and for two consecutive days, her vagina would vibrate on it's own, constantly, to the point of huge annoyance and even some 'pain'. I could actually feel it vibrating too when I put my hand over it. Then on day 3 the vibrations simply 'stopped'. Now she is scared to use the vibrator again.

I've tried to Google and find 'vibrator side effects' but all the sites seem to talk about diseases and cleanliness and such.

QUESTION: What could be causing my wife to 'vibrate' without her vibrator?!?!

(My thinking: she's just extra stimulated because of her 'repression' and her vagina is learning and 'remembering the sensation', kind of like 'muscle memory' in your fingers when you play the piano....just a guess though).

    Help?

    THANKS.

Um, I dunno why it continues that long, but after I orgasm with my vibes I have some spasms in my legs and vagina for awhile afterward. Maybe you should ask a doc??? Perhaps it was just so damned good :)

I'd start with just a simple check of her blood pressure. Irregular pulses or spasms are sometimes blood related (sometimes nerve related). High blood pressure has been known to cause cyclic ringing in the ears or spasms in smaller muscle groups (fingers/toes). If her vag hasn't seen much "use" before the vibe, it could just be her blood vessels down there need to get used to a little more work.

Dayum...her vagina was still twitching after 3 days? :eek
    Dude...:hitit:D

Seriously though...it's probably just her body getting used to something really new. Go easy and let her body "learn" a little...but both of you enjoy the fool out of it too! For a pretty awesome sensation for both of you, put yourself and the vibe in at the same time. (And if y'all are into any kinky stuff, tell her to close her eyes and pretend it's you and another man doing her at the same time. :brow Seriously, I believe pretty much anything is OK in fantasy if it gets you both excited.)

I also believe one of the best things you can do for your sex life is just totally drop any and all inhibitions (at least with each other), and just dump any insecurities either of you might have. When you get all the mental stuff out of the way and just allow yourselves to truly feel all the erotic wonder that I believe we are supposed to feel, your sex life gets kicked up a notch or two...or three, or ten.

Try reading some of the erotic stories that have been posted in the erotic lit section here, or write some erotic stories for each other. Find some porn you both like and watch it together.

So many people with strong religious up-bringings have been taught that sex is bad/nasty/dirty. Well, sex is only bad/nasty/dirty if you're doing it right! :D I'm quite positive that our creator meant for us to thoroughly enjoy sex...we would not be equipped with the right body parts, right instincts, and naturally erotic minds (if we allow them to be) if that were not the case. Ya know?

    Cheers,
    BD

Oh, please tell us more about things you've introduced! We'd love to hear it...we're always looking for new ideas, and we can probably give you some new ideas too. ;)

My wife and I have undergone our own little sexual revolution over the past 2-3 years...we've done some things I would have never imagined, and we're about to do some more that I could have never even conceived of us doing. Talk about turning up the heat...and it's ALL good when you just let go and let your sexual instincts take over! :dgrin

This has happened to me, not for three days but for a long time after I have had a play and only when I completely go to town on myself and make myself have about 10 orgasms in a row......

I have also suffered from a loss of feeling in my clit when I masturbate too often LOL

I'd tell her to work up to it slowly, maybe just one play a day for a few minutes and then you can build it up.

Congrats to you for sexually waking up :D

I tend to agree with Kanto's thoughts: being sexually aroused causes a great deal of blood to flow to the erogenous zones. Suddenly exposing those blood vessels to this wonderful pleasure could cause some sort of muscular reaction. But remember, none of us are doctors here, so we're all just speculating.

Another possibility is that she is experiencing some form of vaginismus. That's when penetration is painful and even next to impossible, due to the uncontrollable tightening of the muscles at the vaginal opening. She could try some PC exercises to gain more control over these "unruly" muscles, and it can be treated, but a GYN needs to be brought into the picture.

It is thought that many cases of vaginismus are psychological in nature - brought on by sexual abuse, fear of the pain or, as you mentioned in your original post, upbringing that insinuates that sex is somehow taboo or "wrong".

I applaud your sexual awakening and hope that this minor setback won't keep you from pressing forward. I once had a pastor who told me that what a couple does in the privacy of their own bedroom (or wherever) is their own business. It develops a closeness and one-ness that is the epitome of the union our Creator had in mind from the beginning of creation!

There is nothing wrong with following a religion and having a good sex life or using toys. They are not mutually exclusive. As long as you both agree on what you are doing and causing no harm, go for it.

I, too, have had my clitoris continue to vibe after I've stopped using a vibrator on it. It only happens if I use my strongest vibe on its fastest setting and only if I spend a long time (1 hour) masturbating.

I can't offer any advice to you about your wife, I just thought I'd let you know it's happened to me and that maybe it's not all that uncommon.

Actually, nothing at all outrageous or new to this crew. But for US it is (if you knew my wife 6 months ago you'd never in a million years believe this change in her).

In addition to the vibrator, which has really helped her to feel sensations much better (she's always had issues with feeling sensations down there)...my wife has realized / strongly feels that she is bi-sexual. So this has meant a gradual 'opening up' of new things: talking about / having her fantasize about being with women, her watching LWord and online videos of girls making out etc, (with clothes / lingerie etc.). I'll sneak in the odd video of naked women going all the way, but it makes her upset as she feels too guilty to watch 'real porn' at present (30 years of religious mind control doesn't get undone in just a few weeks, but we're working on it). She actually actively protested against porn for years within our church. So as well as the religious things she's working on de-programming, she has the moral 'porn is bad' to de-program too (if she chooses to).

That's pretty much it...my wife is on the road to allowing porn into our sex lives, she feels strongly that she's bisexual (and is VERY interested in having experiences with women)...and as for me, I'm actually a bit worried that she'll like women more than, well, me and what will that mean for 'us'. But I'm also quite excited for her to be the real her, and I will support her in that 100%, no matter what it means for me.

    THANKS.

THANKS. That's what we'll do, go slow, a few minutes at a time and see if that helps.

Unless of course your religion is LDS / Mormon. Then you're programmed to view sex as a baby-making operation only and making it as a 'fun, exciting' thing is simply not possible. And talking about using TOYS has never come up with my wife's female friends or my male friends in our 30+ years in the LDS Church. Not once in any discussion amongst our peers and zero times from our church leadership.

LDS clergy actually used to (early 80's) ask you in 'interviews' (to see if you were worthy to get into the Mormon Temple), if you performed Oral Sex on each other. They'd then tell you that God Himself considered this to be a SIN and would keep you out of the Mormon Temple and therefore out of Mormon Heaven. However, due to member backlash, it seems God changed his mind though as they've taken this out of the 'interview questions'.

So, yeah, it's kinda a lot of baggage to deal with...when you're programmed to think God Himself doesn't approve of Oral Sex, then how on earth could he approve of 'toys'?

Thanks Rose. I'm not 100% sure what 'PC' means...did I mention I'm kinda repressed and 'new' to this world of actually 'talking about sex'? :)

Wait just a damn sec ... I thought you all got rid of that doctrine a while back ... :lol

Most of us men can barely handle one women ... having to deal with multiple ones would probably kill most of us.
