Any other guys here have a vasectomy? I had the "snip-snip" middle of last year, and I have to note that my sex drive has increased substantially since then. There doesn't appear to be any physical or physiological reason for my libido going through the roof, so it must be totally psychological. I think the ability to enjoy sex without any concern at all of an unplanned pregnancy is just...liberating. :D Birth control pills are quite effective, and condom's are also (if used correctly)...but even with both used together there's still a possibility of pregnancy (however remote). A vasectomy is 100% effective. There are cases where one or both vas deferens manage to re-attach themselves, but those are few and far between (1 out of about 250,000, IIRC)...and if it does happen, it will typically happen with 3 months of the surgery (thus my doctor waiting 3 months to have me do a "yank test".)

Anyone else experienced this phenomenon? :D

Oh yes! Had my "man surgery" a little over a year ago and had the same experiance. That euphoric feeling of being "safe".

It's also lead to some interesting interactions with women who find your new "unloaded" status VERRY apealing.

Hmm...hadn't thought of that. Anyway, just to be clear, the libido increase didn't happen immediately after the surgery...it happened after I knew I had successfully passed the "yank test". So, definitely a psychological thing, eh?

I am looking forward to the "shooting blanks" confirmation. I too hated the use of condoms. Yes, it has to be psychological. I had it done May 16 and will go in July 16 and see what happens.

Yes. The vas deferens carry sperm from the testicles to the seminal vesicle, which along with the prostate gland produces semen...the sperm gets mixed with the semen in the seminal vesicle, then jetisoned down the urethra and out the penis opening during ejeculation. Cutting and sealing both vas deferens shuts off the supply of sperm only...they simply get reabsorbed into the body. Pride, weren't you paying attention in human anatomy class? :lol

there's always something to be said about knowing that you can have all the fun you desire, without worrying about pregnancy. I've found the same thing, as I am menopausal. My libido shot through the roof! I still don't know if it was hormonal, physiological, or psychological.

    Nor did I care! :lol

    I just LOVE it!

Well, not to break from the crowd, but I didn't really notice an increase in libido after my snip snip :(. My wife will probably disagree :eyes.
I guess i was already operating at maximum horniness :lol.

I wonder if (more like hope) my wife will experience this effect too - she is now "baby safe" too.:)

After my friend had his prostate removed, I asked him what came out when he ejaculated. He said, "A few little puffs of air.":lol

After my vasectomy I noticed a big increase on what was an already high libido. It was almost certainly down to elimination of the worry about my wife falling pregnant.

I didn't notice any change in my libido, but my wife was on the pill and never really worried about unwanted pregnancies. I do agree that the psychological aspect of not having to worry would definitely help your libido.
