    Yep, that's right.
Recently I've been having trouble getting it up. I feel really turned on and horny but I just can't get a reall good hard on. When it does eventually get hard enough to enter the wife it does not stay that way for long.

I'm 45, I smoke and have the rare drink.
I guess you will all tell me to give up smoking but wondered if there were anymore tricks i could try

Do a search here on also google it, I'm sure you will find lots of pointers BUT, quitting smoking and being fit will help considerably because its all about bloodflow when it comes to boners.

I'd go see the doc. It's possibly a circulatory issue and it could be a red flag you don't want to ignore.

It happens to the best of us. Tell your doctor what you told us and you'll get a prescription for an ED med, assuming of course you're otherwise healthy. I personally like Cialis. Discuss your choices with your doc.

It's one of the signs of diabetes when you are otherwise healthy. Your heart efficiency is important to check while you're at it.

Diet and excercise can help with blood flow as well. See a doctor or research more online.

Quit jerking off for a while. Also, try out a new girl. You'll be amazed!

Maybe his wife can help him pick that new girl, JB.

A&L, I hope you have gotten better.

I only found out recently that a friend who had erection difficulties was taking aspirin regularly. He stopped taking the aspirin and things started working again.

(Aspirin is a blood thinner and taking one daily is often recommended to avoid strokes.)

    Greetings all,
How does thinner blood translate into a problem with ED? I don't understand the correlation. Anyone have any medical facts on this? Thanks.

I don't know either. What most people call "thinners" are actually not that, but rather they're anticoagulants, which would benefit circulation. Coagulation is a pretty complicated subject, but I haven't heard it mentioned in an ED conversation.
    Welcome to SF, Rob P.

I had a friend in his early forties who went on blood pressure medication. He told me that it caused him erection problems. When my own blood pressure got to be borderline, I started running and excercising everyday to get it down (the pressure not the pecker). Impotence scares me worse than the heart attack I might be preventing.

This article mentions aspirin among other possible causes for erectile dysfunctional:

There are other articles on the Net debating whether or not aspirin does have any effect.
