So it not a new problem but I am sleeping terrible.
I am on my feet from 7AM too 9PM
I am totally exhausted but I can't sleep.
I have no issue going to sleep but wake after a few hours and toss and turn over the rest of the night.

Over the years I have tried all over the counter meds and some prescription. They don't work and I won't take them again.

What are your tips for a good nights sleep?

The 4-7-8 Breathing Method is a good way to help get your body/mind ready for sleep.
Basically: Breathe in through your nose for a count of 4. Hold breath in for a count of 7. Breathe out through your mouth for a count of 8.
I learned this to help me with anxiety cropping up when I try to sleep. It helps lower blood pressure and to focus on something other than "busy mind."

Also: get some brief but intense exercise about an hour before trying to sleep. I've also heard a light carbohydrate snack just before bed will actually help you sleep better.

    Sex.... 2-3 times a day!

    What/when do you eat?
    Limit sugar, caffeine.

Do you need a new bed/pillows?

If you don't feel rested when you wake up, talk to your doc about a sleep study.

    No man, so no sex.

I don't drink any caffeine and limit sugar.
I eat regular meals. Pretty health for the most part. Dinners around 5:30 and I have a snack in the evening. Normal granola bar and fruit.
    Sometimes a PB&J sandwich.

Nope my beds pretty new and I resently brought new pillows.

I was gonna say about bed and fluffy pillows but you already got that. Could well be stress, I know myself that when I have too much on my mind no matter how tired, I never get good sleep.

If you have really deep carpet or a thick rug, scrunch your toes (bare feet) on them as can help you relax. Other suggestions are to have some chillout / relaxing music on as you go to bed either on a timer or for the whole night, I find that really helps. Or I know you're single atm (their loss) so no sex but a bit of girl play time before sleeps will help you relax and sleep too xxx

Back to sex. A good session with a fun toy or maybe you can find a girl friend to get your rocks off with.

Just get your rocks off somehow. Is a fuck buddy out of the question?

Yes a FB is totally out of the question lol!
I have no issue getting my 'rocks off' before bed! It's not helping me sleep either.

Is it your brain that is keeping you awake?

I don't know I don't think so. It's not that I have lots on my mind or anything.

When I get awake after an hour or so, I play spider solitaire or something like that and then go back to sleep.

Try to figure out what's waking you up during the night. It might seem random, but many times isn't. I've noticed that I'm being woken up by minor things.

    Do you have to pee?
Is your phone flashing an LED light because of an alert?
Does your phone make a noise when it's fully charged, you receive emails, text, etc?
    Do you hear local traffic?
Are pets/children making noise or moving?
    Is there a tv on?
Are there 'light leaks' in the room?
Are you waking up because of dreams?
    So on and so forth...

I used to take melatonin, but I'm not sure it helps you to stay asleep. I think it's more useful for falling asleep. I currently take valerian root supplements when I'm feeling anxious or restless. Again, I'm not sure if it helps to keep you asleep.

I've also read (and experienced) that being over-tired can cause sleep issues. I'm not sure what the solution to that is though, lol.

When you're tossing and turning, sit up, turn a little light on, look around. In other words, give in to your awakeness. Do a little something around the house. Log in to Sexual Forums. Take your mind off being awake. In a little while, you'll be relaxed and feel like lying down again. Good luck. (And goodnight.)

I have trouble sleeping when the seasons are changing. I get up and occupy myself with something until I feel a little sleepy. Other than than that I don't know what to recommend other than daily vigorous exercise and masturbation.

Do you have red in your bedroom by any chance? When I first moved here I lived by myself and put a bunch of red accents in my bedroom. It kept me awake at night, so I had to switch my color scheme. Blues and greens seem to work for me. Turkey makes me sleepy as do all sorts of down pillows and super soft sheets and blankets.

There seems to be no reason why I wake up. I just do. Sometimes I get too hot. But that's not the case tonight.

Melatonin help you go too sleep not stay asleep. It didn't help me at all.

I am in the gym most everyday and my bedroom is green and brown :)

As for getting up and doing a few jobs. I am way too tired to move and that would probably disturb the rest of the household :)

    I am awake again at 4am :(

Seriously - try that deep breathing technique I posted above. If nothing else it will help you get centered and focused. :)
