Tarantulas are a lot more fragile than they look. I used to work at a pet store and one day, when cleaning and feeding the spiders, one of them went up my arm and I overreacted. The spider ended up hitting the floor and splattered like an egg. Really, it's guts were everywhere. I felt bad but, learning a valuable lesson that day; spiders are not cats and don't land on their feet. :ugh

I will keep that in mind. My friend and her 8 yr. old used to get him out all the time and handle him, but that wont be happening at my house, way too scared !!!! I will be extremely careful when the top is being moved away for any reason. I am just extremely intrigued with creatures. I also enjoy my relaxing 60 gallon fish tank with beuatiful 6 yr old parrott cichlids and my smaller tank with my manic asst. danios for when I want not to relax. Lol.

most domestic tarantulas, if they were to bite you but its not likely, have a bite similar to that of a bee sting. personally i wont touch one cause they scare the crap out of me, but it helps to know they cant really hurt you =)

We call our Huntsmen Oswald. Next one would probably be Oswald the Twentieth by now.
