Soom and 10-3xl have your nerd-off here!!!
Okay, lemme think.....
Ever notice how that slow-motion celebration scene would look REALLY awkward and confusing at normal speed?
That's my initial offering...I'll start gently
Sorta...it'd be two muscular guys clapping and cheering and hugging and hopping up and down like excited children in the surf.
More like a Baywatch porn parody lol
Get the crown, we have a winner.
*takes a bow*
I'd like to thank all of my psychological irregularities - couldn't have done it without you guys!
Wait, wait, wait.... Maybe I acted too quickly. We haven't heard from other nerds...
Good idea! This should be fun, I've got a stockpile of nerdy ammo...
Why the nerd off, I'm a nerd/geek as well
Honey I don't fit the nerd or geek thing, But this ought to be interesting. You come up with the coolest stuff
My nerd senses are tingling...
Urge to enter Nerd Battle Mode... rising...
/mind breaks; clears throat/
HAL from 2001: A Space Odyssey is a thinly veiled reference to IBM!
First Blood is based on a book of the same title by David Morrell!
Chekov breaks the universe by knowing Khan in Star Trek II: The Wrath of Khan (he wasn't even a crewman of the Enterprise during Space Seed)!
Yes, in fact, Superman should/would/could have killed Zod as he did in Man of Steel as he also did so in the comics - resulting in almost 3 years worth of mopey/emo Superman. (Culminating in him leaving Earth to fight as a space gladiator and growing a righteous beard.)
And for the last fucking time if I see one more person wearing THIS on their shirt:
...and saying, "I love the Flash!" when it is clearly Captain Marvel's logo (and who, on inquiry, say their favorite Flash was "Flash... uh... Gordon?") I will split fucking skulls. The Flash's logo looks like this:
(similar, but to a even slightly discerning eye completely fucking different!)
So, Gentlemen... ARE WE DOING THIS?! YOU WANNA GO, MAN?! CUZ I WILL NERD RAGE OUT ALL OVER YOUR SORRY ASS IF YOU TEST ME!!!
With blood and rage of crimson red,
Ripped from a corpse so freshly dead,
Together with our hellish hate,
We'll burn you all--that is your fate!
What's mine is mine and mine and mine.
And mine and mine and mine!
Oh -- almost forgot!
Mark Hamill is also the longest running portrayer of The Joker (even if it was only con voce)
I just realized something as I thought on this thread (because that's totally the kind of thing I do with my free time)...
I'm not sure how valid this is as a Nerd Off.
SOOM3030 is making observations on various things from popular culture that are frequently overlooked.
I'm over here shouting loudly about random stuff that could be labeled as "nerdy," playing the part of the Condescending Unappreciated Aficionado; declaring everyone who knows less about random trivia than myself to be a Philistine...
I don't think anyone can ever "win."
Y'know, I may have to concede this one anyway, because I can't counter comic book references - I've never been able to stand reading comic books, so if they're necessary to nerd status, I forfeit and congratulate your return to the monarchy
And btw, I have a copy of First Blood by David Morrell in my bookshelf five feet away. And the novelization he wrote of "First Blood: Part II" (even though Rambo died in the first book). Also have The Bonfire of the Vanities by Tom Wolfe, an English-language translation of Planet Of The Apes by Pierre Boulle (it was a French novel), The Warriors by Sol Yurick, and every novel Cormac McCarthy has written, to name a tiny fraction of my collection.
I may disdain comics, but I read the hell out of novels/novellas. Can't stand Stephen King, though...
That's the genius part... They will come up with way to be nerds without my help. I haven't understood anything they've said so far. I just egg them on a bit.
Two comic book references per day. Three on weekends or your birthday, and May 4th.
Cmon, you must have seen what I meant about the Rocky III slow motion celebration looking odd at normal speed...I put up a video...
Or Robert Stack getting a wedgie so hard he's repeatedly lifted off his feet...? What's not to understand about comedic genius? Lololol
Considered yourself "egged on"!
