For whatever reason, I can't play YouTube videos anymore. I get a message saying either my javascript it turned off or I need to update. Neither one of these things seems to be the issue. Help!

Not really a computer geek but I know a little bit. Try typing regsvr32 jscript.dll in the run box. If that doesn't work, try restoring internet defaults (assuming you're using IE)

I am running Windows XP, with IE and Java version 1.6.0.

I have already uninstalled the Real Player because someone told me there are issues with it.

I have Quick Time and Adobe Flash players right now.

Update your flash player. Youtube is in the middle of a transfer to the H.264 codec and the old flash didn't support that.

I did update my player..several times. And yes, I uninstalled the original player before I reinstalled and updated. I have done it several times, and it still doesn't work. I wonder if there is a firewall issue???

Try taking down the firewall all together, see if it works then.

See if Safari or Firefox will play it. They use different plugins. If it still doesn't work then it's a firewall or a virus.

The plug-in is different than the actual flash player, that might be what you need to do. I forget how to do that since I don't use a PC.

Well, I finally figured it out. If I turn off my Norton Ad Blocking, I can see videos. Unfortunately, now I can see all the garbage at the top of the page here. SO...I will be turning it back on so I don't have to be assaulted by ads for fleshlights and porn sites.

Firefox is where it's at, you know you want to convert to the dark side.

I second that. With Firefox you can adblock all the banner ads, although King Ryan frowns upon that, somewhat...plus you can block all pop-up ads, AND you can still view YouTube and other videos.

Yes if you want a browser that eats up all your resources then yes go with firefox if not go with a freeware call Slim browser. Get rid of nortons stuff. It will lead to more problems than it can fix. Trust me on this. Slim browser has its own add blocker that will let you turn it on and out as needed.
