I have a neck muscle that it so tight and knotted up you can actually see how big it is in my pictures from this weekend, right side between neck and shoulder. I have tried heating pad since yesterday morning when i rest but it doesnt help release any tightness. What else can I do to help, anybody want to come give me a massage . Lol. I may have to break down and see if a muscle relaxer med will work, but I really dont want to be sleepy today, I have so much housework. Any suggestions will be appreciated.

I probably enjoy giving the massage (usually do) if close by enough.

One question: You ever had an accident or injury to the neck?
I had a car accident years ago and while keeping active and fit helps a lot, and proper pillow, sometimes you need help from a professional.
I had physiiotherapy and chiropractor treatments that helped.
These guys SHOULD know about your neck BEFORE they do any work on it otherwise I would be a bit worried.

Could be the way you sleep, and Tylenol makes a patch that helps with muscle soreness. Its like a small heat pack to help loosen things up

My wife gets this from time to time. Advil helps. Hot shower. Pressure on the knot during a massage. I like when she let's me do the massage IN the shower. Muscle relaxer before bed helps too.

Just don't over do it, you might make it worse when you wake up tomorrow. I think the alternating heat and ice is the best advice you've gotten so far.

I have the same problem. My neck is constantly sore. I am quite good at cracking my back and neck, so I don't know what the problem is. It does bother me quite a bit, but during the day I usually don't feel it and I forget to call the chiro. But my pain is both sides right above my shoulders.

The muscle tightness is considerably better this morning. Took a steaming hot bath last night with dead sea salt and pure rose essential oil mixed with patchouli and ylang ylang, I was in heaven. The I used a ctrus dead sea salt body scrub and it moisturized my skin so that it feels like a baby's butt.
I am a happy camper this morning !!!!!

Take a long hot bath, or have a professional massage it. Not a random girl. Those feel good, but aren't the same as a deep tissue massage. Happy ending optional, but make sure the masseuse also has legitimate training.

See a chiropractor. A good one can work miracles on the neck. I have osteoarthritis in mine and I can tell you not to let this go on long enough to damage your vertebre and/or discs.
