TONY STEWART wins the 2005 NASCAR championship!
I can't wait until next season! Hopefully Dale Jr will have a better year.
Congrats to Tony!
Hey Michelle! Dale Jr. is my favorite driver and Tony is my #2 driver. I think Junior's team will come together in '06 now that Tony Eury, Jr. is back. Rose is a Jeff Gordon fan so we have a lot of fun on race day. It was somewhat subdued this season since neither of our drivers made it into the final chase. :ugh
Eeewww...Rose, you like Gordo?
HAHA!! Yep - and I love this time of year!! The smell of that high-octane in the air, rubber burning on asphalt, stale beer dripping down through the seats, horror stories from the restrooms, ... and of course, the wandering race fans, who can't find their car after the race.
WOOOOHOOO! Bring it on!!!
And I will hope to see my Jeff Gordon get his team together this year. I am also leaning toward Kyle Busch as my pick from the 'young guns'. He's aggressive, but smart, poised, a gentlemen (unlike big brother....). I think that as long as he has the good team, he is a driver that can bring home the championship in a few years.
CAN ANYONE SAY:
3 WEEKS TILL DAYTONA 500!!!
We got it bad! - get past the Superbowl (go STEELERS - sorry Ryan! oke ), Opening of Winter Olympics, .... and then
"boogity, boogity, boogity - let's go racin' boys!!!"
See ... I never saw the alure of turning left all day long ...
Personally though ... I'm a huge fan of European F1 and the World Rally Championships ... lets see Dale Jr. take a dirt or snow track doing 110 in an Evo ...
I will say one thing ... those Nascar guys can drive.
Dale Jr has driven in other races besides NASCAR. For instance, one race nearly ended his life almost 2 years ago. Scarey stuff! I think he should just stay right where he belongs...LOL!
I can't say that I really enjoy the other types of racing. I guess I really like the beating and banging out there on the track. I'm almost bursting at the seams for this season to start.
The countdown begins!
This was last week. Tony's a regular at the White House.
Tony Stewart does the Indy thing occassionally, and many of the present NASCAR greats grew up with the sprint cars (kind of 'mini-indy' stuff).
JR got bumped and burned racing Corvettes (a real passion for him). He has since decided to give his all to Stock car racing ... since he's getting big bucks!now... if we can only get him out of Levi's commercials, maybe he'll win a race...LOL
Here in Richmond, we have been enjoying some IRL races for the past few years, and it has really made a hit. We enjoyed it, (even though, as Anon... says - it still was all left-turn racing).
Personally, I do not enjoy the road course races in NASCAR. These cars are built to promote a racer's ability - with mechanical function a close second. Indy's cars are mechanically built to promote their engineering quality, with racer's skill coming into play when necessary.
NASCAR road course racing is boring - very few lead changes, very few wrecks (gotta love those wrecks!!!) - Tony Stewart won a road course last year and literally had NO dents in his car when he pulled into Victory Circle. Now, for a REAL FAN, that's totally unacceptable!
Anyway - it is countdown time for us! I got all my Jeff Gordon attire ready....GAWD!! I love February!!!!!
I'm sooooo envious...you guys are in Richmond? Damn...that's awesome!!!
OH...I found some graphics for ya guys. You're more than welcome to steal them for your own use if you'd like.
Everyone in my family is going to Daytona in 2 weeks! Sis got her hubby tix for xmas, my mom got her hubby tix for xmas, and I married a "non-fan"
AHHHH, the humanity... Oh well, such is life
Maybe we'll hit the 4rth of July weekend race, or even better yet, HOMESTEAD.
Rose, you are right, road courses put me to sleep! They bring in the hired guns for those anyway
Give me a superspeedway anyday!
WOOHOO, LETS GO RACIN!!!!
Now the real question is, who do I root for this year? I was a die hard Ward and Jeff Burton fan, until they started changing sponsors faster than I could change T-shirts to keep up with them... I need to pick a new favorite! I think I shall decide during DAYTONA! (no, not just by who wins, lol)
Yeah ... F1 and Rally are all about driverskill though. though the mechanical engineering is as vital to those as any other ... I just love watching cars in the twisties ...
I'm a total car junkie ... I know ... I'm sorry...
AO, don't be sorry....be proud! *grins*
I can't say that I don't like watching the Indy or CART cars, but they're not as entertaining. I'm not big on the road style courses in any type of racing. I just want to nap during the whole damn thing!
I have a few races that I'd love to attend:
Another Indy 500 (I've been to 2 of them already)
Possibly another Michigan International Speedway race
20 days left until we hear...
Go to a Rally match where the cars spit dirt on you as they drift around corners and tell me that ain't fun...
See going left or only in a straight line bores me ... post-college car is gonna be a used M3 ...
Yes I'll pay out the ass, but I'll live in a box to have one of those. Nothing like a car that can pull .93 Gs on the skidpad.
Shellen, we brought along some of our own little Nascar pics....:lol
Below are two of my personal favorites *as I prepare to do battle...* :
Rose....that's so very evil! LOL!
You are so right Michelle!
Here's something to make the thread a little more fair and balanced. :lol
