everytime i shower and wash my hair, it seems like more and more of my hair is falling out. sometimes it's in clumps, other times it's less hair but still significant enough to be a problem. i'm not sure what's causing this but i'm afraid that it's only going to get worse. i have very thick and long hair and thankfully you can't really tell just by looking, but i know its thinning out slowly but surely.

has anyone had a similar problem or know why this might be happening?

My wife has the same issue, went to the doc freaking out and he told her it was where her hair is so thick its just more noticeable. And that everyone loses a ton of hair everyday, but I have seen with her where it looks like a huge amount. Going on three years and just as thick as ever

hmmm, i guess that makes sense! maybe it's just an illusion to me that it's getting thinner then lol

im so glad i finally bought something to put over the drain. it started stopping up because of all the hair and my stepdad had to buy one of those snakes that pulls all the blockage out of it. oh god, what a nightmare lol

Yes, I also don't think it's serious. My wife occasionally complains about similar things. I sometimes wonder if she loses a bit more hair when she's stressed, sort of like or kitties:lol. When we take them to the vet they shed huge balls of fur.

    There is an alternative explanation:
Right now, I am reading a story in which a woman has problems with her hair falling out, and also cockroaches coming out of her mouth. Turns out she is turning into the witch Morgan le Fay. :)

.......but I think I will stick to my first explanation.:lol

If I get sick enough to run a fever or let my nutrition (especially protein) drop off, mine will start falling out more. The less protein I eat the worse it is. Luckily I have plenty and don't think I'll ever go bald. And I like to eat steak and taters. It all grows right back when I get my nutrition back up.

This happened to me when my hormones were all wacky - I've got really long, thick hair too...it never made a difference, and sorted itself out - didn't last long. If it keeps up over a few weeks, I'd maybe see your doc, but I doubt you have anything to worry about. :)

i personally have male pattern baldness. Not fun for a 19 year old guy. It's barely setting in but I've essentially accepted I won't have hair by the time i'm 30 or so.

Stress is one main reason ...

Comes after is your excessive care .. like using too much conditioner or creams ..

Nutrition can be also a reason ... you need more of vitamin C ,D and E

lol thanks for the support but i'm fine with the baldness. What bothers me more are the dickwads at my age who feel they have a legitimate reason to make fun of you for something you can't really help. =P Still, I'm not bitter, I'm perfectly glad being me because of my other features.
