I'm a regular reader of this site but i do not wish to post comment or questions. I would like to be able to access the Multi Media pages but It's my understanding that you have to have made 20 comments or posts in order to qualify for full member priveleges. Are there any other methods to quallify as a full member?

Nope. You have to participate to get the full benefits. This isn't a place to come to for the porn.....

I don't understand why someone belongs to a forum and never post. I am member #17 on another form that has over 65,000 members and only about 30 ever post.

This is not a porn site...it's a sex discussion site, and the AMM is a place for members to show off and be admired. Thank god Ryan placed restrictions on the AMM. After they took effect, the collective IQ (and maturity level) of :sf went waaay up :eyes

ETA: AND TO CERTAIN NEW MEMBERS WHO SHALL REMAIN NAMELESS, post-padding is prohibited. Flooding the forum with posts and very brief posts that don't contribute to the discussion is "post-padding".

*ahem* Drives me bonkers when they do that :p

Ahhhh - and hopefully a lesson learned here.

Gawkers reveal themselves as terribly immature, regardless of chronological age. There are plenty of visually entertaining sites from which to choose. At :sf, we are striving to make this something more than a Jack Off forum.

Not trying to start anything here, just wanted to give my perspective on this...
Other than this forum, there are 3 others that I visit regularly and have been a member of for 3 years or more. On either one of them, I don't have more than 200 posts. It's not that I don't want to contribute, but rather that most anything I would want to ask or talk about has usually already been discussed in detail. A quick search usually finds what I am looking for. Then there are times when you are still somewhat of a "noob", and you post a question and end up getting 100 responses that "this has already been discussed in detail... use the search, noob!"
With all that said, I can totally agree with setting limits to access certain areas of the boards... it helps keep some of the dregs away.

It's only 20 posts that are needed..... I guess I like it because I feel a little more secure that my lovely mother in law is not going to make up some name and find my pictures because she's snoopy. I may want to be a bit of an exhibitionist, but it feels more secure knowing that it's not accessible to every single person who surfs the net.

Trust me, we are very polite to newcomers here (hell, I don't even think we call new members "noobs" ) We bend over backwards to make newcomers feel totally welcome - especially if they are legitimately interested in becoming a bonafide intelligent contributor to the forum.

Okay, sometimes one of us will have a wild hair up his/her ass, and sound abrasive. But for the most part, we openly encourage posts of substance. I believe that's what separates :sf from all other Sex-type forums. We are normal, everyday kind of people. We are professionals, parents, grandparents, business-owners,....along with college students, laborers, orphans, teens (18+).... all with questions, insights and fetishes to which we address.

The great thing is - no one feels any better or lesser for their position in society. The only "de-classification" (sic) is when someone posts ONLY to gain access to nude pictures. That's so.... so..... crude and infantile.

Hence, we establish a 'rule of thumb', by which every menber must prove his/her true interest in all things sexual before accessing the bare :lol facts of our members. Personally, I think the rules are too lenient. But, that's another subject... :p

I agree. At first it was kind of annoying, but sex and your body is a personal thing. Sharing either with others is a discretionary act, and, as such, its nice to know that everybody looking to get off can't just google "sexy pics" and get a hit to someone's picture on this site. the difference between appreciation and degradation is how the person sharing feels about it, not the person looking.

Exactly, deckard_cain! I love sharing my body - old as it may be - with my friends on :sf. They know me and know my heart/soul. It pleases me to share with them.

To just let anyone and everyone see my provocative poses would make me very intimidated.

And that's just my humble opinion.... :rose

Well, "honesty" carries alot of weight around here. Perhaps this will be a learning experience for him (and others).
