One day a man who you do not know walks up to you & in his hand is a small box with a little red button on the top . He tells you that he will give you one million dollars if you would just push the little red button , but there's a condition .............

Upon your pressing of the little red button somewhere in the world a person of no relation & you have never known existed , but in perfect health will instantly die as a direct result of your actions . Knowing this would you push the lil red button or would you walk away ? Be honest ........ push it or walk away ?

This was the theme to my junior year pych final exam essay . It stirred some very interesting debates of the concept of money versus morals in modern society , it almost came to blows during one especially heated conversation >:] .

I would press the button, because no one is in "perfect health"... :dgrin

Seriously, a million dollars doesn't go that far anymore. I wouldn't do it.

Hmm, push it or walk away... How bout punching the guy in the face and taking the money :dgrin . But seriously, money means nothing to me. I spend most of my money on sassy because I don't need it to make me happy ;) . I would probably kick the guys ass for even giving me an offer like that. But, since thats not an option, I guess I would just walk away.

Neither, I'd ask to work for him.

As an economist I love money. But as a libertarian, I don't really have a right to end someone's life like that.

Knowing my luck, the person who dies would be me.

So I pressed the button anyway.

Why thank you PappaBear, I paid my respects to the King there back in 81, but he'd lost his voice.

Is the bar called 'Dusty Road' still going in Nashville? I enjoyed my one night stay in your town!
It's much better than Little Rock!

Well, that didn't occur to me, but Hell No, I wouldn't push the button. I'd never enjoy the money if I did. I couldn't even keep the $100 that someone left at the ATM, and I was broke as shit at the time. I'm pretty sure the bank manager swiped it after I walked it in to her and explained about the ATM. As I was turning to walk out, she immediately shut her door. I imagined her stuffing it in her purse. That really burns me up. I hope I'm wrong.

I'd probably take the box from the individual and destroy it with a smile on my face, all while pressing no buttons.

I'm surprised more people haven't pressed the button purely as a shock factor on the forum. Maybe people here at :sf really are honest and respectful? Who would've thunk it?
