She had a hysterectomy about 7 yrs ago. Brought about slightly early menopause (started in her early 40s) hot flashes in the last several years have gotten to the point where she rarely gets a full nights sleep. She kept a journal one night , to see how many times she woke up hot flashing.. And she woke every 45 to 90 mins.. Needless to say its taking a toll on her. So any advice will be appreciated.. Thank you

They have cooling pillows/mattress pads - might be worth a shot

We have taked about that.. She does want one.. You're right it's worth a shot.. But she seems to go from one extreme to the other.. One minute we're under 3 blankets, then all the blankets are thrown off of us.. Then they're all back on.. I woke up one night, she looked like a tootsie roll. She was wrapped up like a burrito and it looked like someone had twisted the ends of the blankets around her feet like a tootsie roll. (she had torn all the blankets off of me in the process) lol.. Poor thing sleeps like the Tasmanian devil now...

I feel for her being just 43 and can't stay comfortable for more than a few minutes. E thinks I'm in the early stages, IDK, is she doing any natural remedies? Last week I felt like I was sweating (well I was) but if I moved an inch the bed felt like an ice cube and I was freezing. It sucks, that I do know.

Not indiscriminately; always under medical supervision!

I am pre-menopausal and on the verge of being menopausal and it is HELL ........... good luck and i am sending some hugs for the both of you !!! That and have patience and love is the only advice i can give you at the moment ! also as someone else stated pills if you can get your doctor to prescribe something . I have a doctor that doesn't believe in medication only ... he wants his patients to try the natural way for awhile first !!!

I recommend the natural way first. The Rx way is killing us.

I had mine at age 50 and it came and went without much ado. Our family has always made the girls take soups made with Hairy Vegetable Marrow - cooked anyway you like. As far as I know, our ladies did not go through any of the hassles of menopause. Seems there are some properties in the vegetable that aids in keeping menopause under control. I am still in good working order - so I suppose the marrow diet works.

Worth a try if you can get this type of marrow where you are. Better late than never. It is an old Chinese belief or practice.

The nurse gave me a pamphlet ....... here are just a few that might help ! I will try it for sure ... some are harder to do then others lol

    _ avoid stressful situations lol
Stay active through physical activities and exercising
A water based lubricant e.g. k-y jelly can help reduce discomfort for vaginal dryness
    Exercise, yoga and meditation

Avoid foods and beverages that may trigger the onset of hot flashes. They include caffeine, alcohol and spicy meals Geez really i luv all three ....... i can stop 2 of those but coffee NO i need it ! that's going to be hard to do damn lol

There is also Black Cohosh tea that might help ......

Of course it is all individual and what one thing might help one person it might not the other so you have to try and see what is best for you !

    Kitty :)

It is actually correct English but just we usually drop "The" word and just go straight with to menopause.
Some would agree that it is indeed "The Beast" while others simply turn into one ;)
