Hi... I have a quick question. The lube my boyfriend and I use gets really sticky really quick... I was wondering if there was a brand that you could recommend to avoid the icky mess. To me, nothing kills the mood more than a big sticky mess (well... other than the fun kind). :)

Well -- what are you using? It would help to know....
Some lubes are nice, in that you can 'spit' a little, and it re-lubes.

That's the sticky kind with me.
And no I don't want to stop either.
I just cannot get along with the water based stuff.
Vegetable oil works well, as does olive oil.

I would recommend a silicone based lubricant, such as Wet Platinum. My wife and I generally have anal sex, so there's no natual lubrication. The silicone based lubricant doesn't dry, is condom compatible, and can be used under water. It washes off easily with soap and water. The only downside is that some, not all, silicone toys can be damaged by silicone lubricant. That being said, my wife and I have several silicone toys and neither has been damaged.

Try liquid, rather than gel, lubes. I highly recommend KY Liquid and their warming liquid is really lovely!

Yup, a water-based liquid, Such as KY, Astroglide or Wet, or a silicone-based lube such as Eros or Wet Platinum. Silicone lubes do not get sticky, and last much longer than water-based. They are latex safe as well.

What is a good lube for anal? I've done anal a few times and never used lube. I think it would be nice to use, but it doesn't seem necessary.

Just to clarify..when you did anal were you on the receiving end or the giving end? Most of our forum experts on the subject say that the key to successful and pleasurable anal sex is *tons* of lube. This is because that part of the body doesn't produce its own natural lubricant. Try Astroglide or any of the other brands recommended in any of the previous posts.

I disagree, with anal, lube is absolutely necessary, unless you want to give or receive pain. :ugh Any of the lubes mentioned in this thread will work wonderfully, just be sure to use lots of it. As Puss mentioned, the anus does not produce it's own lubrication like the vagina; synthetic lube is a must.

Try Durex Warming. I've used many and this seems to last the longest and does not get sticky what soever. The warming sensation is just a plus!!

So far Astroglide has been my favorite, but I haven't tried that many. But I see that K-Y has a brand new one out that they say is just great.

We (wife and I) have used both water based (e.g. KY) and silicone based lubes (Astroglide). From our experience we have found that water based lubes tend to work the best. Reason being they are compatible with everything (e.g. toys and condoms) and clean up fairly quickly. The downside to them is that you need to reapply them more frequently. Silicone based lubes are fine too but you need to read the product's instructions to make sure that silcone is compatible with it. Also silcone is a bit 'greasy' and is not always the easiest to clean up. With that said the one big advantage is that it does not have to be reapplied as much.

We use Wet Original for everything except anal. For anal we use Wet Platinum.

I've improvised with olive oil, aloe vera gel (which burned so I wouldn't recommend it) and contact wetting solution, which actually worked great. Olive oil works fine if you don't mind getting all greasy. I've also used KY and the generic brand KY, which worked okay but tended to get sticky after a while.

Fortunately I never need any extra lube with my current partner. :brow
