My wife can be prone to easily getting yeast infections.

I've read that water based lube's might be a cause.

Can anyone suggest a lube that might work better for us?
    Thanks

About.com says there isn't definitive proof that glycerin does cause yeast infections, however it makes logical sense (because yeast feeds off of glycerin (sugar), so it possibly could cause one, especially with those prone to them in the first place.

They suggest switching to a silicone based lube to be on the safe side.
I'd agree, silicone feels great, it rewets with a little saliva, doesn't dry out easily and doesn't contain glycerin.

My favorite elderly sex godess :p, Sue Johanson's advice is along the same lines.

    Good luck, happy lubing! :p

You can get lubes that are water based and feel of glycerin. I use Liquid Silk myself, it is glycerin free, as silicone lubes can have their own problems.

Sorry about this reply as Crisco is a shortening
and I don't think you want to shorten anything.
    so use lard.

Seriously, water-based lube isn't known to cause yeast infections. I'm guessing here that lube wasn't the culprit.

It's all about keeping the flora of your vagina as it is and not disturbing it too much. When bad bacterias takes over then a vaginal infection takes place. One of the best way to cause that is for example douches, perfumed soap or pads or tampons, flavored condoms, etc. Those things all disturbs the vaginal flora and are a big no-no.

To be searious this time, I dont think yeast infections
have anything to do with the type of lube you use.
And I know I'm going to get hell But Johnsons Baby Oil is the best
I have ever used, It has a natural warmth and does not wear out
like many of the other so called lubes, Astroglide is great for a minute
then its gone. And just who wants to stop every minute and re lube.
I for one like to fuck for a half hour or more so I would
have to have a few bottles of astroglide open.
Plus it has a pleasant taste.

    Not to worry Katy.
I haven't used a condom since my swinging days
and that's been a few years.
I can honestly say that I don't have sex with
    anyone but my wife.

OH lordy lord!! You are right lol

YOU ARE GOING TO GET HELL over this one :p

DO you know how they make baby oil? (Johnsons brand particularly). From petrochemicals hon!!!

I am no greenie/hippie, but I would never, ever, use that stuff on my or anyone else's body.

lol Have to laugh when you say natural warmth ..... just dont go putting a match near it hahahahaha.

I am not trying to be mean or rude or nasty, I just didnt know if you were aware of what actually is in baby oil. Please don't get pissed at me, ok?

    Hugssssssssss

Anyway, seriously anything like vaseline or baby oil or any other such thing used as a lube but that isn't intended for sexual use.... simply not cool at all. Not vagina friendly.

I'd be scared were it me to end up with a vaginal infection.

Sorry to tell you but i sure do know what it is, And every Doctor would recommend
that you use it on a baby's ass, Thus it will get on Her privates to. And it doesn't hurt
their tender skin so whats it going to do to yours.
read the label on chap stick, You mean to say you put it on your lips safely.
Read the label on almost every salve made in the world including Vaseline and you
will find that it made of the same thing, Should I keep going.

Then i take it that you have never had a baby
or taken a class on Motherhood.

I would never use baby oil anywhere....especially on babies!!!

Vegetable oils are great. I trained as a massage therapist/aromatherapist and discovered that natural oils such as almond, wheatgerm and marigold make fab lubes....

Add one or two drops of essential oils, well diluted.........very erotic.....!!

    :)

No disrespect but doctors dont always know what they are talking about....

It is far better to go with ones "intuition" and baby oil has never felt good to me.

My tutor at college would NEVER let us use baby oil when we were training...
