I look out the sliding glass doors just now and see a fox crouching behind some rocks at the top of the pasture. My horse saw the fox too and ran up there to chase him off. He bucked in the foxes general direction until the fox moved.

The fox snuck under the fence and then sat and watched my horse for a bit and then got down and rolled on the ground. My horse watched him and then HE got down on the ground and rolled.

The fox got down and rolled again..........and so did my horse. Then the fox rolled a final time and so did my horse.

Apparently, things got worked out between the two of them because the fox came into the pasture and sat by my horse like they were best buds.

When I went outside to try to get pictures I only got a few before the fox took off.

I dunno if the fox was trying to play or if he was just sticking around until my horse croaked from his leg wound and he could scavenge the carcass, all I know is nobody's talkin'.

Just saw a program on National Geo about unlikely animal friendships, like a deer and a dog and a coyote and a lion. Maybe these two are just getting acquainted.

Ive heard that mixed marriages can be tricky....
But I don't think the fact that she's white and he's of color , will be an issue....

Just noticed this is my 2,300 th post.......and I've yet to say anything relevant....quite the accomplishment huh?

Congratulations, BB...keep up the good work. :tup

What's funny is, my husband's horse totally ignored the playing of his buddy and the fox. What a party pooper.

There have been stranger relationships...Maybe your hubby's horse is just more closed minded! ;-) Is this story a metaphor for 2 guys and a Foxy Lady? Sorry, couldn't stop myself! ;-)

    Thanks for asking, Iggy.

Almost 5 weeks ago in the middle of the night, a neighbor's horse got loose and came up here to start shit with my horses. We don't know exactly what all went down but, in the morning we found the stray horse grazing in the back yard with my husband's horse and my horse was nowhere to be found. We discovered that hundreds of feet of fenceline had been torn down and the metal t-posts were bent.

My horse was found 2 miles from home with a nasty wound on his back leg where he'd gotten hung up in the electric rope fence that we use. It was a very dirty & deep wound and has been a real bitch to heal up.

cool pix & story BW, another reason to love country living!
i used to watch out 4 cats stalking the cattle in the pasture near the house, it seems cats are not good judges of the relative size of things and often stalk animals too big for them.
