Does the 'stick' in lipstick refer to the fact it's a stick, or that it sticks to your lips?
I think its because it mostly comes in the form of a retractable "stick"mate....
But I dont use it....so I could be wrong......Im sure one of the girls will be along shortly to set us straight on this?....:eyes
Hot Wheels is right...it is called lipstick because of it's shape. Interesting question though...never really thought about it until now...
I hadn't either, but lately my mind's been wandering into some pretty crazy shit if I don't watch it. Or maybe I was just overthinking it just a tiny bit.
Oh well, this is up with 12BB's First Timers thread for being one of the best threads in recent times.
I'm with my fellow Aussies in that lipstick is called that because of it's shape. Although it could also be because it sticks to coffee cups. :eyes
It also sticks to other things, you know
Its like the same meaning as a gluestick, although its not lips on a stick, its a stick for lips but not meant as a stick for lips to stick on.
... What just happened?
Well I was thinking more the contents of the container than the container itself. If it's the container we're talking about, it's usually in a stick shape. But if we're talking about the contents, it sticks to lips, so lipstick.
For glue, it's a stick made of glue, so it doesn't quite apply to this.
Right that was my point which leads me to have concern for the question lol.
what kind of concern?
Like I understand your question. Good one.
Oh goody, that means I've successfully... did something... I think it had to do with taking over the world... possibly cheese wheels...
Did somebody say cheese??
Eeyup, a big ol' wheel of pepper jack, as it so happens!
Hmmmm, mostly a provolone type of guy here.....are we gonna start talking cheese sticks soon?....
Probably, though we know why those are called cheese sticks. I suppose the real question is why would you want sticks of cheese?
Are they called cheese sticks because they stick to your teeth? :lol
Im more of a put an IV in my artery and inject hot liquid cheese in to me
Cheese sticks to your teeth? I've always had problem with bread, not cheese, sticking to my teeth, or at least the roof of my mouth.
You need the poor cheese, the kind that doesnt peel, it breaks.
