I have an interview at the one place I've wanted to internship/work at for the past two years. I finally get my chance. I'm nervous as hell and a little sick to my stomach.

Care to send this girl some good vibes?

After sitting for an hour and twenty five minutes, I walked out. He was interviewing someone else before me even though I had an appointment at two pm. His interview with this man turned into nearly an hour and a half of idle chit chat. I now know what his family heritage is, where he's from, what their thoughts on the housing market are and other inappropriate things to discuss during an interview.

While I understand that I should be patient and value the time of the person interviewing me, my time is of value as well. If you can't respect me enough to at least walk away from your chit chat and interview me quickly, apologize for taking so long or at least acknowledge my existence, then clearly I should seek someone who does value my time and experience that I could bring.

I am going to send a polite email explaining why I decided to leave. While I know I most likely blew my chance at interning there, the disrespect that was shown by the owner makes me not want to work there.

Bravo. I support your actions. Why is it that so many HR people and hiring managers think nothing of keeping you hanging while they all but dismiss you if you're ten minutes late for an interview? This was not me when I was in tre workforce. Whatever time you were scheduled to meet with me I was available. If the devil was reborn in the bowels of the company, and I couldn't make the meeting you were informed -- if possible. If you had to wait and I couldn't continuer with the meeting you were scheduled to meet with me AT YOUR earliest convenience. I also flew around the country to interview folks who couldn't make it to where my office was (long flight back and forth, interview time, etc. was too uch for some people to put together).

May I suggest if you haven't sent the e-mail yet that you remain very polite and explain you ran out of time while waiting. You don't want to burn a bridge. The guy was obviously a insensitve blowhard but he did think well enough to call you in for an interview.

I did send an email but I was extremely polite and civil and explained why I left. I thanked them for the opportunity to come in and interview in in the first place.

I am sorry to hear it went so poorly. From what I know of you, you've earned the chance to at least be heard. At least you know a lot of us are still pulling for you.

Yeah, I'm sure he ran the batteries out testing it on Slutty. Bar's a good man, he had to make sure he was sending a quality product.

I know I'm late here on this topic, but I'm sorry to hear your interview didn't go well. I've been trying to find a new job/career path myself but I can't seem to get to the interview stage so you're one up-ing me and movin on up! Just keep positive and just be yourself and something new will show up and come your way hopefully :)
