So there's a Japanese pseudo-kinky fashion that's been big for some years now called "Gothic Lolita". It's not really "goth", but is more cutesy. Do a Google Image search on GOSULOLI - its on the first page of hits. Then try GOTHIC LOLITA. Anyway, importing these costumes from Gosuloli desingers like Moi-Meme-Motie or having them custom made can be costly and slow. So here are a couple of "base" costumes that you can accessorize to look like this fashion trend from the Far East. Anyway, the idea is to use existing American costumes that fit the general theme, then add lace, shoes, and accessorize. Less Kinky, acceptable as a general look: Google for: Pilgrim Woman Costume (ditch the hat) - make sure it is the more form fitting looking one with the more elaborate apron in the front. This will mean less work for you. Google for: Salem Witch Adult Costume (hat actually has a kind of cosplay / Anime appeal) - found at buycostumes.com Next, buy a roll of lace, black or white. Cut the Pilgrim Woman costume dress length a bit shorter and add the lace to the hem. Add lace anywhere the costume looks too staid or boring. Get creative! Buy black or white lace gloves. Black lipstick and nail polish. Knee high black cotton socks, and "Mary Jane" shoes. White powder sparingly applied to the face. Jewelry like large crucifixes or general "goth" type jewelry. Try not to get too gaudy. There, a "Gothic Lolita" costume for under $100!
Cute costumes! It would be fun to slit the pilgrim woman skirt up the sides and wear fishnet stockings underneath
