My husband got laid off last week. I just found out today. He's been out everyday from six till four looking for another job. We have enough for two months rent, diapers, etc. If he doesn't have a job by next week I will be out looking as well.

Just needed to share with someone as I have no one to talk to. Thanks for reading and please send positive thoughts.

It is rough, I lost my job 5 years ago, switched careers and now make more than I did. Think of it as an opportunity to start something he really loves. Be supportive, he will need your help through this. Stay strong. Someday you will look back on this and know that if this had not happened you would not be where you are. You will be happy and things will be fine as long as you support each other and don't give up.

Aww sweetie my heart goes out to you. If it means anything I will definitely be thinking good positive thoughts. I think many of us here have sympathized with all that you have gone through. Yes we are a sex site but we are also a community. A cyber community full of people that care about each other.

I wish you and your husband the best. I hope he finds something soon.

    ***HUGS***

Not good news at all. Sometimes when one door closes, another better one opens; but you need to be on the look out not to miss the opportunity.
Best of luck to both of you for this new challenge. Hopefully it will be a short lived one.

That's tough. Sorry to hear that. But I am sure if he keeps looking that hard one will turn up...and maybe an even better job.

Sorry to hear that. I went from 08 to 10 with virtually no work, and when you own a business, people tend not to hire you because you've been your own boss and they don't think they can control you. Wife went back to work after 12 yrs and we burned through all of our retirement before things got better. Good luck.

I made $109K in 07, dropped to $18K in 08....but the bills don't drop, the kids activities don't go away, you eliminate everything you can and go on. Fortunately my wife found a job very quickly, but not having been in the workforce for 12 yrs, the income level takes a hit. We're coming back though. Been tough, but we're getting on.

Sorry to say but Misery loves company. Times have been tough. Especially for the contracting business. I have friends in the business who have only been rescued by a hurricane creating work. All the more impressive to maintain a good relationship through tough times.

I'm a remodeling contractor and with the crash, everything construction related simply stopped. I was one of the last to go dead and only through scrimping and selling off excess tools and such we made it through, many of the other guys here went belly up. We've had a few weather related happenings which have "helped", but it wasn't until 11 that things started to slowly pick up. If my wife and I didn't have such a strong and long relationship, I don't know if WE'd have pulled through. Stress can be a motherfucker.
