    Seasons Greetings all!

I am planning on going traveling to India for a couple of months. I am flying there on New Years Eve and returning back late February.

I am going to take my laptop with me, but not sure how much internet access I might get over there, since I will be constantly on the move. I may be inactive for quite a while, but hoping to continue to be here.

I am going over there because my father and his brothers had a brand new house built of marble and granite (very common there). The new mansion replaced a very old wooden house which was demolished to make way for this bigger one. It will be kind of a family reunion as we hold a ceremony to commemorate the new house.

But that is the update from me.

Just curious, do you have to get a bunch of shots before you go?

They advise you to get vaccinated, but it is not required. Malaria is so endemic there that everyday you are likely to encounter someone infected by it.

The number one rule for all visitors to India is never drink their water, always acquire prepackaged or bottled water. They are very cheap over there and practically every shop in India sell them or even offer bottled water complimentary.

Reporting to you live from Bombay (Mumbai) India! I made it just fine, and just in time for the New Year 2011. My flight to Mumbai was quite long, so I needed almost a full day to rest up.

I saw the news last night and 860 drunk driving arrests were made by the Mumbai Police on New Years Eve! :eek

I'm just glad I was out of there before New Years Eve.

And that's 860 in Mumbai alone....that doesn't even include Delhi or all the other Indian cities.

Anyway, my flight from the US was really long. It was a short 1.5 hour hop from Brownsville to Houston on Continental, then switch airline to Emirates. It was 14 hours, 25 minutes from Houston to Dubai (UAE) and nearly 3 more hours from Dubai to Mumbai. I liked the flight though....Emirates is a really good quality service....they keep you well-fed and comforted. Their in-flight entertainment system, called 'ICE', on the Boeing 777-200LR is top-of-the-line. Hundreds of channels from movies, TV, music, games, news, documentaries, and sports programs.
