What is it about Geisha, they are so sexy and why do men find them so irresistible?
They don't really do anything for me. I like a woman that has some independence and fire, not a meek waitress.
I imagine for most guys it's a combination of "yellow fever" and the fact that prostitution was tied to what we know as geisha for a long time, and to an extent still is. These days when a guy talks of wanting a "geisha girl" he mainly means he wants a beautiful but subservient Asian girl.
The wiki article on it can clear up a lot of misconception on it all.
what is yellow fever mean Tex?
It's a slang term (admittedly somewhat derogatory but widely used, even by Asians) meaning someone who has a high affinity for Asians. Asian people are regarded as having "yellow" skin. I've never seen that, but I didn't make the term up.
I get it, its sort of like jungle fever, lol
Yes, exactly like that.
Dam I have yellow jungle fever then!
Was wondering on the cause
True Geishas were not prostitutes at all and not even necessarily physically attractive but extremely talented women whose sole role was to provide her client a relaxing atmosphere with intelligent conversation, non sexual entertainment such as music, singing and poetry recitals.
A classy companion and therefore a far cry from what the word now seems to refer to these days.
I guess I have Sweedish fever.
So do I.
nothing for me either...though maybe it's the perceived submissiveness...?
from what i've read online and from that movie, i guess its just the dominance that the geisha will do lots of things for you, even play some tunes. what i mean is, this girl isn't going to talk back, deny sex, pour your tea, sleep with you... as long as you have the money. i don't like them too much though, they seem kind of robotic. i'd take a sassy asian running free then a geisha. honestly they seem more like clowns to me more than anything else. lol
The term is sometimes used for the highest class of Japanese prostitutes or courtesans, and other times for entertainers for the rich. I suppose the lines were (and are) blurry, since in many cultures "decent ladies" could never be entertainers. This does not mean that they were treated with disrespect. Many cultures had similar women, such as the hetaerae of Ancient Greece (OK, I admit I had to look up the spelling of that one :lol).
I liked the movie "Memoirs of a Geisha". It was criticized for using Chinese girls in the roles of Japanese, and I don't know how historically correct it is, but a nice move nonetheless.
I do like Asian women sexually, especially Japanese and Korean as they are generally more attractive, but I'm not turned on by the geisha concept. I know what it means, as explained above, which is to provide intelligent comfort and companionship to powerful men. They did have sex with men that they chose, and part of that was to always wear one article of clothing (but I don't know how I know this!). One part that interests me about geisha is many men lusting after these women, but only a lucky few were chosen to have sex with, and the geisha had the control.
Thai women are olive brown, ethnic Malay are fair skinned, Japanese and Korean (Anjin) are fair skinned, and Han Chinese are also fair skinned, so I don't know where 'yellow' comes from.
im going to throw away my geisha girl outfit now
i lived overseas for a year and am kind of familiar with certain asian culture(vietnamese/japanese). The geisha is steeped in ancient tradition and values that most americans lack the sophistication to appreciate, or even understand. The girl i was living with was vietnamese so i had no relationship with geisha although i did meet some.
lol.see thats what i mean.....u r funny!:lol
You're an interesting man with some good life experiences.
Ditto that cbrmale but ever so reticent.
Topic for two obvious reasons remind me of the book and movie movie "The Quiet American".
I also worked and lived in Vietnam and travelled extensively
Loved the culture, the food and particularly the women.
Too crowded a lifestyle to stay tho'.
