Tell us a movie and describe your favorite scene.
The one that comes to my mind (because we just watched the movie) is
"Officer and a Gentleman" the scene is at the end when he walks into the factory, everyone stops working and watches as he finds his girl, picks her up and carries her out. Music in the background playing "Love Lifts You Up Where You Belong"

Serious Scenes... Without sitting and thinking too long on it I'd say:
    - Closing sequence of Blade Runner (the "Tears In Rain" speech)
    - "The Trick" scene from Lawrence of Arabia
    - Reservoir Dogs
    opening sequence
    - "Dave vs H.A.L." and "Through the Gate" sequences of 2001: A Space Odyssey
    - The end sequence from Ran.
    - The first scene of Gunnery Sergeant Hartman berating the recruits in Full Metal Jacket
    -
Bill's "Superman" monologue in Kill Bill vol. 2

Ah! Ashamed that I forgot 'til RIGHT NOW:

The scene of the Fab Four playing in the field in A Hard Day's Night.

The scene where Laurence Oliver is telling Joan Foantaine's character in Rebecca that he hated his late wife. Mr. Olivier was one of the most handsome men that ever graced the screen.

Not my favorite, but one of my favorites for sure

I need to stop posting to this thread... I just realized with how much of a cinephile I am that I could single-handedly fill this with only my responses... maybe I should restart my film/literature review and analysis blog... o_O

BUT! Another favorite scene: The execution of John Coffey in The Green Mile.
(One of the saddest, most poignant scenes/stories ever told.)

It was the first Stephen King book I ever read (back when I was only 9). Blew my mind then. Does every time I re-read it. One of the few instances where a film does true justice to the book it's based on. If it wouldn't have me bawling my eyes out I'd watch it right now. :)

Favorite Movie Fight Club. one of my many favorite scenes is when Tyler Durden (the narrator) is in a support group for testicular cancer being bear hugged by Bob (played by meatloaf)

[Narrator is engulfed by a weeping Bob in an intense embrace]

Narrator: [voice over] This is Bob. Bob had bitch tits. This was a support group for men with testicular cancer. The big moosie slobbering all over me... that was Bob.
    Bob: We're still men.
Narrator: Yes, we're men. Men is what we are.
Narrator: [voice over] Eight months ago, Bob's testicles were removed. Then hormone therapy. He developed bitch tits because his testosterone was too high and his body upped the estrogen. And that was where I fit...
Bob: They're gonna have to open my pecs again to drain the fluid.
Narrator: [voice over] Between those huge sweating tits that hung enormous, the way you'd think of God's as big.

Not a favorite, but one I will never forget.
    The Movie: Misery
The Scene: When Kathy Bates puts a 4x4 between James Caan's legs at the ankles and hits them one at a time with a sledge hammer, breaking them. Telling him it's an operation called hobbeling to keep him from running away.
