So, I have this filling. I think it chipped, it's relatively new... only had it about six months or so. The cavity beforehand didn't hurt, so now that it's chipped it of course doesn't hurt, so I have no idea if the actual cavity is still covered. But majority of the filling is still there. Only reason I think it chipped is simply because I feel a sharp point that I didn't notice before, so it got there somehow.

But I was just thinkin, if I have to get it redone, will they have to separate the rest of the filling? By what, grinding the entire mofo down? Or would they just put a small cap on top of the existing one?

    I fucking hate the dentist.

I had several filling that chipped because I always grind my teeth at night...usually when they fix it, they do drill some of it out...and yes, I think they will have to give you the painfull injection to numb you gums....let me know how it goes...

So to fix it it's typically a "normal" filling, just all over again? I'm okay with that, that needle isn't anything. It's the smell and the sound of the drilling that makes me want to shove forks in my temple. I was just hoping that they wouldn't have to get some 9 million dollar excavation tool to lift the old filling in order to get a new one in.

it also depend how old the filling is...actually I recently went to my dentist for chipped filling...she said it was too old, so he had to drill the old one out, and put a new one all over...

Okay so, got it filled. Turns out part of my tooth chipped along with the feeling. Great. Not a big deal, it was just the top corner. However the filling he put in is pretty big. Maybe it needs time to ground itself out more, it hasn't even been 24 hours yet. But it's pretty big. It's flat, my teeth bite down just fine, however it covers more of my tooth than the other fillings I have. I guess cause of the chip I had.

Oh well. I hope this mofo holds. I haven't eaten anything except a box of mac and cheese. :(
