Go out and see it happen right now, It's about gone
Still a good portion left to go on the East coast.....
Just a little sliver left of it here.
i went to work and didnt even look up. i kinda forgot!
Oh, Hiker - you are soooooo lucky!! I'm one that is drawn (perhaps obsessed) with celestial happenings. I've awakened at 3 AM to watch various meteor showers. Thorn & I have taken weekend trips to mountains, in order to see these things without interference from city lights. I was VERY excited when I heard the East Coast was going to see it as a full lunar eclipse :woohoo Thorn even pumped himself up with coffee late in the day, so he could stay up with me.
But, alas - our skies were completely cloudy last night, with freezing rain & sleet falling. I saw nothing.
But I'm happy for those of you who DID see it!
I even heard on the news today that if you had a relatively good telecope, Saturn's rings were visible :whoa
they had the eclipse on the news this morning! so i got to see it. very beautiful! we are suppose to get all the snow and freezeing rain tonight.
I was at the Gym and rode the bike home so Stopped and watched part of it
and it was about half covered when I got home and I completely forgot
to get out my camera and set it up, It has a 850 power telephoto lens with
a doubler and I got some great shots of Halebop with it. We lived in the country at that time so no trucks driving by to disturb the camera on a tripod with a remote shutter
mechanism. Here I live to close to a federal highway to use that much power
as the least vibration will ruin it.
The moon did disappear for a very short time then turned orange as promised
No such luck here in Sweden. It's been cloudy and raining all day/night. I remember seeing a lunar eclipse about ten years ago, and it's something I shall never forget. I can certainly see how ancient societies considered the blood red eclipsed moon a bad omen.
I got a few pics of it. Lemme see if I can post them.
Well it won't let me - sorry.
Put them on Photo bucket then you can copy the address and post it.
if you go to the indiana local weather site you can veiw pics of the eclipse. wthr is the channel.
