Just fun diversion from all the rest of conversation topics on here...

I'm a "car guy" (I own six different vehicles!) and so this is something I always wonder about people I interact with online. It's always interesting to me to know (assuming you are somewhere like me - in the USA in a place where you have no choice really but to drive/own a vehicle) what sort of wheels you're cruising in.

I've found this is a fun way (for me at least) to get to know people. You can tell a surprising amount about a person based off their vehicle. (Or maybe that's just an entirely American attitude to have.) :p

Nice! Sounds to me like you're doing pretty well financially if that's what you're driving. Always wanted both those, but could never afford 'em. :)

When my business was starting out and I had to get to see customers over long distances (a mile is still a mile even in the UK) and because of where some of the jobs were, I drove a Land Rover Discovery - it was an get-me-there, in comfort and safely, an office and a few times a bedroom.
When I changed the business format and could work from home, occasionally, and only needed to go into the works very occasionally (its only 5 miles away), instead of going up I went down. I now drive a Volkswagen Polo. It get me where I need to go, nippily and in relative comfort - and Oh how I save on fuel, I can run it for months on what I use to spend in a week.
A car to me is a tool, like any other and if it does the job I want to do I couldn't care less. Why have 1,000s of £/$ standing idle when the cash can be used for other more personally enjoyable pleasures.

I've got a Nissan Titan, Banks exhaust and cold air intake, cross drilled and slotted rotors w/ceramic pads, air ride suspension...that's my work vehicle. Then I've got a Honda Odyssey EXL-Res for hockey trips and vacations. Then there's the Honda PC800r motorcycle. Wife has a new Nissan Rogue SL and my son has a Honda Accord. Daughter gets her license in Nov and she wants a CRV.

Just realized I never posted my own personal garage... so...
Daily Driver - 2012 VW (NOT a New Beetle, those things are f**king rubbish).
Have Garaged - ‘45 VW Kübelwagen Type 82 (a.k.a. VW "Thing"), ‘68 VW Microbus, ‘08 Ford Crown Victoria (Police Interceptor), and ‘85 Volvo 240DL sedan
Project Car (that I'm working on to have drivable for my daily driver) - ‘64 Aston-Martin DB5 (Yep, I scored a James Bond car, well, it was actually just a shell when I got it initially 4 years ago! LOTS LOTS LOTS LOTS of work left on it - doesn't even have an engine currently - but when I'm done... :D :D :D)

Yep, I'm a total car junkie/gear head/grease monkey. Being able to indulge myself in this particular passion (yes, I go so far as to call it a passion) is one of the few things in this Life that I feel truly blessed about. If it weren't for a limited amount of personal restraint (as well as being completely broke about 99.9999% of the time) then I'd probably have far more than just the 6 I do have. If I ever win the Lottery and become a ridiculously rich man I am going to work on putting Jay Leno's garage to shame. :D

several years back, I was a half hour late from getting a hold of a Karmen Gia. I've built a few 1.6 motors for rail buggies. Old cars I've had include a 65 Chevelle, a 70 Impala (11sec 1/4 mile), 66 Caprice Police package, wife had a 70 GTO Judge. 92 Integra GTR (also a low 11 sec car). Another two dozen could be tossed in. When the kids are out, I'm looking at a Nissan GTR and restoring a little 928S4. Gotta get the GTR to smoke a friends Ferrari 360.

I drive but don't own a car and likely never will as long as we're in the city. Saves a lot of money not having one.
