Has anyone ever dated someone that has the same name as their parents or close family?
I've dated men in the past with the same names as cousins and uncles, never the same as my dad or brother though. My semi-significant other shares a name with my uncle-- but one goes by Jay and one goes by Jason, so I'm not sure it counts.
No. My mother has a pretty unique name so I don't even know anyone else with the same name, little own dated her.
I imagine it would weird to yell out a parents name during sex.
And that's exactly why I probably never would lol
This is why they invented nicknames.
My mother's name is the same as my wife's, and my uncles wife, father's brother, also has the same name.
Happens a lot in Norfolk apparently, but it turns out mother, wife, girlfriend are the same person
Never have but I have heard of a few people.
I dated someone with the same name as my mother. Luckily my mother used a shortened version and the gf used the full version. I always called her a nickname. I never thought of it as strange or odd till I saw this thread.
The psychologist in me is curious why you think it would be a problem. Does this person remind you of your father? Does this person look or act like him? When you say the name do you see your fathers face? If the answers are no, then all is good. If you said yes, then perhaps a therapist, or nickname might be in order. Please report back all the lurid details.
couldnt do it
A name is just a name and there only so many to go around, it does not define the person. I have zero issue with the subject of this thread.
Not only hell no but HELL to the NO!!
I have two BIL named Mark and a nephew. My cousin's first and second husband's names-Michael, her son (nicked named Michael Dean)and his SO (Ike) are names Michael. SMDH
I don't run into to many others with mine or my husband's names.
Hello, my name is Ed. No, not Edward - it's short for Oedipus.
What's your name?
Jo? Is that short for something?
Jocasta? Whoa, what a coincidence - my mum's name is Jocasta... ... ...
I once dated a girl with the same name as my father, needless to say
it didn't work out between Dave and I.
My newest answer:
No, I've never dated a man named "dad".
