my gf and i recently started using something called a "french press", to make our coffee...she bought it because someone at starbucks recomended it to her...if youve never made coffee using one of these with fresh ground beans....you should.
    just sayin'

Sounds good! I can't drink coffee because it's more like would you like some coffee with that sugar and cream?

I enjoy drinking coffee and do have a French Press. It's great and very convenient when you're only making coffee for one or two. (My steaming cup of coffee with just a hint of vanilla creamer is next to me as I type.)

Think this is the same as a caf├ętiere? I occasionally use one. Makes great fresh coffee. And as Wildwoman59 says, it means making coffee for one a 'dawdle' (really easy!).

I like coffe in one of two ways:

on its own - coffee with milk and sugar

with cookies, or breakfast, or whatever - black coffee

So far it seems like I prefer Colombian medium roast coffee to most others, but I occasionally try out others (the Orient Express brand is pretty good for the price).

Speaking of which, wasn't there a guy who called himself Coffee around here? Maybe he's the expert.

I love a good cup of coffee. But as an Englishman anything with the word 'French' in it is a big no no.

Gotta love the French. Back when you Brits and Americans (who are also great chaps) were all into your Victorian morality and puritan ways, they invented strip tease! :)

The French have generally been sexually lilberal where Anglos generally were sexually conservative. The French revolution was as much about ridding the country of Roman Catholic control as anything else, so they were one step ahead of Anglos there as well. And the French have always been into gastronomic pleasures in food and drink, and most of the wine produced in the world is French-style. They don't do espresso, that's Italian, but coffee in rural cafes and bars in France is always a special delight.

And if you can't get to a cafe in France you can press your own.

Sometimes I can really appreciate the smell, other times I think its horrible. Maybe the quality of coffee has a part to play?...
