I went to Chattacon, a Chattanooga-based convention that's like Dragon-Con but not as cool. Susposed to volunteer tommorow. It was my first convention ever :). I loved meeting all the new people and mingling and seeing the costumes and the crazy hair. Sad when you have very little money and can't buy the cool stuff but the people make up for it. I became a sidekick of sorts (the companion to her doctor, if i wanna make a Dr. Who analogy) for one of the ones doing security. She called me "Skippy" lol and i embraced it :). It was so nice meeting all the new people! One i called "Queen Bee" cause she had a bee outfit on. Second time i saw her I saw a guy behind her massaging her back and behind him was a table and they were passing around a pipe of sorts..i don't think it was tobacco! We were all jammin out to Bohemian Rhapsody :). Very nice time. I got invited to a party when i was gettin my badge that was nice. I will probably post some pix soon on photo album. I was in a Superman shirt lol.

Went to an actual party there...invitation only but easy to get one. Never had been to a party even in my teen years. Never was popular and never got invited. So it was interesting but only stayed for a smoke cause it was pretty late. Sorry for the incoherant ramble i will let you know when i have had some sleep in better less rambling detail. I love you all!

lol. that was a somewhat incoherent ramble but thats cute.
Sounds like you had a good time.
I wish I could like conventions but such a gathering of people makes me uncomfortable.

You'd NEVER been to a party?! I have a hard time remembering a weekend in highschool or college...or the years after that there wasnt a party or concert I was at. Thats where you find the women. The minute my parents would leave town, I'd have at least 3 kegs and 100 people at the house.

Wow backcheck64, you partied hard. I didn't do that in high school, I probably only went to a dozen or so. I guess my social appetites was satisfied by hanging out with my teammates. In college I partied hard though, not so much once I got out, usually once a month. Now I party every once in a while, usually a holiday. I think I outgrew it, but I will still come there and whip you at beer pong.

Probably, never played it. Beer pong wasnt around in the late 70s very early 80s. Partied so much back then, I'm pretty well done now. We have a couple of margaritta makers and lots of beer on hockey road trips and we drink and talk till 4am in the lobby of the hotel we're staying at (its the kids playing, not us LOL). When my parents would go on vacation for 7 to 10 days...it was one long party. Allowed one day to put the house back together, but usually had a few guys and girls move in for that week.

Ahh so you live in Tennessee. Been there once at some place I dont remember for a wedding. Great place from what I saw and good mountainous scenery.

Anyways, I want to go to one a convention like that. Ive always wanted to go to a hippie-fest as I like to call it for a weekend but the opportunity never really comes up. Im sure If I lived in the 70s and 80s I would have drank smoked myself stupid by now.

This is how I imagine Backcheck as Randy to be at his kids hockey game lol.

Actually I'm fairly reserved at the kids games, I only get a little pissed at some of the refing....and I work the penalty box so I'm not in the stands. Now a couple of the other fathers are worse than Randy.
And the rink is a little cold to go shirtless LOL

If I lived in the 70s I would be so burnt out I'd feel like I was in some sort of alternate dimension where we were in some sort of *looks around* photo hut. It's eerie, man.

Why is that surprising? I'm the same as Kerm. No one ever invited me to any parties when I was in school. I have been to two parties in my entire life. Both sucked because it was all new and scary and no one there noticed me. (I also wasnt invited, I just happend to stumble across them)
Not everyone is all "PARTY HARD".

Never said everyone was, but to not have gone to any is a bit surprising. There were dozens of parties every weekend around here. Most were open invitation, was invited to most, crashed a few. The only parties that sucked were the ones with no good looking women. With my personality though, I was the life of the party.

no i had never been to one, i had my nose stuffed in books doing six hours of homework a night, and still some on the weekend. But women, if i had been there, who never would have given me the time of day beyond "go fetch me a beer, sweetie." I also didn't have the connections i spoke to very few people muchless hung out with very few people outside of my school. School was a struggle for me and socializing was put on the back burner. Never went to parties, never hung out with a group of friends, got drunk, got stoned or anything of that nature.

I never went to parties in my younger days neither. My dad introduced me to wine around the time I was ten but I never got drunk until I was around 28 - 29. I don't feel I missed anything.

    Just rather extroverted.

I hardly cracked a book and had As and Bs...not quite my kids straight As and never stick their nose in a text book. Partyed my ass off in college and had a 3.89GPA.

Hell, we used to get drunk IN school. Who know if you missed anything or not. I had a hell of a lot of fun...and lots of women. I have no regrets.

We used to go to house parties, dorm parties, greek parties, field parties, pool parties, sports parties, church picnics...which turned into parties, we'd rent a roller rink and bring in kegs, holiday parties.... just about any reason to party. A bunch of us had an antiprom party my senior year (why spend a ton of money to get laid you could do it for free), now we went to my wifes prom...for an hour and then two after prom parties.

After we were married, we had at least two parties a month at our place...after we bought the hot tub, almost every weekend.
