I got a new phone. Case I LOVE doesn't offer the most protection - especially from a 7 year old.

What are your thoughts/experiences with the regular screen protectors and the shatter proof glass ones?

    Thanks :)

My son had an otterbox. I watched him lose his temper and slam the phone into the ground. I mean, he threw it straight down as hard as he could, and no damage.

The otterbox screen cover does protect. I have one but it will not keep out dust. Or dirt.
If you nave one you like, there may be aftermarket screen covers you can add on. Target or best buy would be a good place to start. Or Amazon.

I know they have them, I know where to get them. I was wondering if anyone used them and how they worked.

Not much you can do to protect the glass. Just a decent case.
I only use speck cases. I am not a fan off otterbox.
By insurance if you can. I have AppleCare on all my devised.
I smached the screen on my iPad twice.

There's plenty you can do to protect your screen from every day events. - of course you could wrap it in the military grade style body armour or use a standard manufacturer case with a screen protector like

    http://www.sirlancelotsarmor.com

But screens are meant to be used without the protective screens - cheap to fix if you damage it. Just means the phone.

I have fixed a number of iPhone screens - glass backs and ipad screens. Very easy to do should you encounter screen damage.

I have uk phone insurance cover for everything for under £5 a month - aprx USD2.75.

Well I have a glass protection screen on my iPhone, been on it fit almost two years and in that time dropped many times. Only small corner of the protector screen is cracked so far so yeah I am definitively a big fan. Mine was expensive at $15 but paid for itself many times over :)

If you want a phone case built like a tank, with bullet proof gorilla glass, try the Lunatik Taktik. This case is awesome. Not 100% waterproof, but has Gore-Tex membranes behind the speakers and audio ports. It's not cheap, but neither is your phone.
