    Ladies and Gentlemen of :sf,

I demand that you stand up and celebrate. Stand up tall, lift an adult beverage in the air and give The man the finger. On December 5, 1933, the people of Utah stuck it to the teetotalers and ratified the 21st Amendment, bringing America's regrettable years of alcohol Prohibition to an end.

So let the beer, wine, and liquor flow. Celebrate the repeal of Prohibition!

"Here - here!! Let's hear it for our Utah heroes!!"

    *giggles*
Thanks, A-1.... I just learned something new!

We should all go to the Bar and Grill for a celebratory drink!

Wow! I didn't know today was THE DAY, and I didn't know Utah was the state to put us over the hump, sts. Amazing that it would be Utah, as you still can't go into a bar in Utah and order a drink... unless you're a "club member". Beer, yeah. Wine or liquor, no. At least that's how it was the last time I tried to go bar-hopping in Salt Lake.

Definitely celebration time! I think I'll head out to the liquor store and stock up for tonight.

Now, when are we going to get real and legalize pot?

WOO HOO!! The Swede and I celebrated this evening with whisky, Pernod, and Margaritas (naturally, not all mixed together).

    Cheers, everyone!

I polished off two Guinness, some Sam Adams Winter Lager, and some single malt Scotch.

Ah it's good to be free.

It sure is!...even though alcohol wasn't completely unrestricted here in Sweden until 1955, and even now one still has to go to the government-controlled alcohol monopoly to buy it,...unless (like us) you have a source for illegal black market alcohol. :dgrin

Alcohol monopolies exist in all Scandinavian countries except Denmark, and the EU doesn't look too kindly upon them, but Sweden and other Nordic countries get special dispensations from the EU to keep their monopolies. However, it's only temporary. Sooner or later the EU will require that the Scandinavian alcohol monopolies be broken up and privatized...even though some people are convinced that would mean the end of civilization as we know it. :eyes

Funny you should say that since monopolies can only exist when sanctioned by a government.

Is it true that liquor stores in VA are government run?

Liquor stores here are government run only. Only place to get some suds is at a bar or a government owned liquor store. :)

Yes ... makes me want to molotov cocktail each one ... alas that would be a waste of so much tasty liquor. It's all for tax reasons so they can continue to rape us and collect ridiculous amounts of sin-tax revenue. *grumblefuckinggovernmentgrumble*
