I go through spells of several days where I just can't sleep at night....then I'll have several days where I sleep 10+ hours straight. It's frustrating.
Currently in one of those insomnia periods.

I'm very fortunate I dont usually have sleep problems. I'd share that abililty if I could. I'm miserable when I can't sleep or don't get enough sleep, I can't imagine.

    Present!!
I'm lucky if I get 6 hours of sleep a night. I constantly wake up for no reason and can't get back to sleep.

An insomniac has trouble sleeping. There are some folks who prefer to stay up and go to bed very late, sometimes in the very early morning hours, but they get a normal amount of sleep. To them, this is normal.

I just hear on the news that folks who watch a lot of porn have less rewarding and successful relationships. Any thoughts on why?

I think I might not feel like I have a sleeping disorder or insomnia if it wasn’t for the work schedule an trying to tell my body when to sleep. Weekends or days off, it’s doesn’t bother me as much to wake up @ 1:00am & get up, an then just sleep when I want to.

But all during the work week, I have those nights where I wake up 1-2 am, wired for sound an cannot drift back to slumberland. Or I can’t get to sleep. A new mattress helped, reduce this some, an I’ve researched & looked for ways to adjust my routine an or exercise.
From there, I just try to not let it bother me too much, an keep trying. But, if I was self employed, successful enough to support the bills, an my schedule was flexible, I think my lifestyle would more fit my brain, my sleeping habits & hobbies. But I probably still wouldn’t sleep much.

My thoughts are that it must be true... sometimes.
    1) If you're watching too much porn, or anything, you're spending a lot of time being sedentary
    2) you'll be short on time to pay attention to people around you who may
    3) you may, or may not, have strange expectations about sex. Even if you're very intelligent and know that it's all fake and exaggeration, you're allowing those images to do some brainwashing on you. Consciously you know it's all fake, but your subconscious is being manipulated
    4) perhaps the reason you're watching so much porn is because something was already bad in your relationship, so that you prefer to spend time in a virtual world than with real people
    5) back to being sedentary, it is known that even being sports don't cancel out on being sedentary. Being sedentary, you're increasing the odds you'll eventually suffer from diabetes and other bad things that may affect your performance in other things in life.

So, yes, I think it may be bad, or a bad sign. More for being sedentary than for anything else.

I watch porn less than once every two to three months. Just saying.

For people with sleep problems, I would recommend using a sound machine to help. There are also recordings online of white noise, nature sounds, waterfalls, crickets, rainfall, etc, which may help, and you can use either before bed, to relax, or while you sleep.

Here's a good one, there are ways to make an MP3 of the audio, to use wherever or whenever you wish:

That's another thing I take medication for sometimes :rolleyes::rolleyes::rolleyes:

But it usually takes at least a couple of hours to kick in when it actually does work, and it doesn't help me stay asleep.

My experience with sleep meds, both over the counter and prescribed, is that they only work for a few days, if at all....and the grogginess the next day, when they do work, sucks.

I never sleep over 6 hours a night and its usually closer to 4. Been like this my whole life I just can't sleep at night. I guess I'll sleep when I'm dead
