I haven't been able to be much around for a while as I've been busy with the school. I started my uni studies week and a half ago and we've had lots of all sorts of happenings etc. I'm afraid it'll take while before I get to more normal rhythm, but I'll try to drop by every once in a while :)

Now to the more important part. Yesterday we were celebrating my girlfriends birthday and I made her dinner and served it on the candle light and so on. Anyway, at one point I gathered all my courage (I sure was nervous, even though I had absolutely no doubt that she wouldn't agree) and dropped on my knee and proposed her. And she agreed to marry me ^^

We've already discussed this before and we've already dreaming about our weddings every now and then. It's been clear for us both that we'll get married eventually (there's still a long time for that though). It's still a big step to make the make the promise and wear the ring. It feels so 'official' :p ..But, Hey! I'm engaged now!

I am just so happy :)

    Mr. G - a happy man

Congratulations, indeed! So are engagements just as long in Finland as they are over here in Sweden? Here it's not uncommon for couples to be engages for eight, ten, or even fifteen years before they finally tie the knot, and sometimes they never get around to it. :)

    Thank you all ^^

I think that it's quite the same around here. It haven't always been like this, but it's gotten quite common past the last few decades. It seems that the whole meaning of engagement has changed especially among the youth. I think that it's often just a statement that 'we are in a relationship' instead of a promise of marriage. And on these cases I don't think one proposes the other, it's more like 'Let's get engaged?' 'OK'...

We (me & my fiancée) do value it high and do intend to get married for real. I believe that we will be heading for the altar in a year or two :)

    Congratulations
Just be sure to talk about EVERYTHING you two can think of, just to make sure you're on the same page. Like children and styles of raising them, the possibility of one of you getting an extended illness, that your personalities and interests will change as you travel through your 20s, 30s, and so on, how you divide your money (we just pour it all into one pot and call it ours; works for us), and a gazillion other things that I can't even remember. It's a long haul, but there's nothing like having a life long soul mate. Great luck.

When you've got a ring and a date, then you're really engaged, jmho.:)

Oh well, somebody had to give you your first prenuptial lecture.:lol

Congratulations, because this is an exiting journey ;)

Now...Start saving money, no ifs, no buts, just start saving, and try to make more money than you normally do while you are at it.

I am not kidding. You will need it.
