    What?!?!
    No one commented this?!?!

I will resurrect this cause its an event I want to go to one day. It's a really wild party and I've heard the atmosphere is awesome!! It's definitely something you don't want to miss.
Have you gone yet since this post? I think in my area it usually comes around the summer season :D

I've never been to Burning Man but we have friends that have. It interests me and I just wanted to hear others opinions. Singed, I've never heard of Wacken but I am warming google up now.

For the sake of those that aren't using google, Wacken's this HUGE gathering of metal bands in Wacken, Germany. You've got everything there, and it's just one huge metal-fest. I think it's a week long. It's called the Mecca of Metal.

A lot of the bands there know each other, and they'll end up hopping in during each other's shows for a song or so to make them more awesome.

GRAVE DIGGER - Rebellion feat. Hansi Kürsch (Blind Guardian) and Van Canto - YouTube
Like this one, I'm not familiar with Grave Digger, but Hansi's the lead singer of Blind Guardian, and Van Canto's a group that does acapello cover's for metal songs.

To me, the "growl" (for lack of a better word) of most metal music just slowly starts making me more and more anxious and tense. I get short tempered and belligerent until eventually I'm at the point that I would pick a fight with a nun. At the same time, I know the constant music of Burning Man would probably wear on me as well.

when you say growl, I assume you mean
Battlelore - "House of Heroes" Napalm Records - YouTube
this kind of stuff? Though you'll have to wait a minute or so till the guy starts singing. As for it in general, there's not as much 'growling' in metal as you'd think, the media just likes to pick the worst bits to show you.

For example, bands that either don't do those kinds of growls, or keep it to a bare minimum are:
    Bind Guardian
    Stratovarius
Iced Earth (depends on which singer, earlier stuff has it, later stuff tends to be higher pitched)
    Alestorm
    Dio's bands
    Iron Maiden
    Gamma Ray
    Helloween
    Tyr
    Hammerfall
    Fairyland
    Sonata Artica
    Nightwish
    Seven Kingdoms
And a bunch of other bands I can't name off the top of my head. It's just that for every good metal band, there's 5 screamo/cookie-monster bands that are just shit.

Actually, that number's very likely low.

That's the opinion of LOTS of people. My friend's about as big of a Gamma Ray fan as he is a Maiden fan, though.

nope, cant do the Battlelore stuff. I've enjoyed holy diver and some of the other stuff in the past but once it all starts sounding the same, I need to change. Plus, most of the stuff on that list didn't sound anything like Nickleback? LOL

You're comparing Blind Guardian to Nickleback?

If so, them be fightin words!

But for the record, no, they don't all sound the same. Most of those bands don't even sound that much like each other.

I figured Nickleback would get a rise out of you!!!! Really, I listen to everything I just can't listen to the same genre for too long.

I really really liked the song. Are those ordinary skirts or do they mean something? They aren't cut right to be kilts. Now I am picturing what they may or may not be wearing under them.

And can you go topless at Burning Man?

I'm assuming they are supposed to be kilts of some sort, though I wouldn't know *shrug*

I believe so. I've read that there maybe some guidelines, but my co worker has gone and she said there's naked people everywhere. :D
