Blue Oyster Cult is coming February 8th & although I realize it isn't the same lineup as it was back in '67; from what I can tell just the bass player & drummer have changed.

Did they only have 3 hits?
    "(Don't Fear) The Reaper"
    "Burnin' for You" &
    "Godzilla"

    Other facts I know:
The song "Veteran of the Psychic Wars" appeared in the soundtrack of the movie Heavy Metal and "Astronomy" was covered by Metallica on 1998's Garage Inc.

The name "Blue Öyster Cult" came from a poem written by manager Sandy Pearlman. He also come up with the band's earlier name, "Soft White Underbelly" & the band's logo symbol was created by him.

What about "E.T.I.;wasn't it popular?? I think the song ROCKS!

So the question is...is it worth $25.00 to go & check them out ? :shrug

I saw them, back in 1972, with a college girlfriend at a university in Tennessee. I think that I may have paid $20 for two tickets. The basketball arena was packed and they put on quite a show. There was so much marijuana smoke everyone was getting a contact high. Some girl came up to the stage, took a hit of her joint and "shotgunned" the lead singer who bent down to get it and then got pretty wild. After the show, my girlfriend and I went to a nice motel and fucked. The next day, after we ate brunch, she wanted us to go to this church she knew. Nobody was there but she sat and played hymns on the piano for a long time. After we would have sex, she would to to a window, still naked, put on a crucifix she usually wore and pray even though she would be the one pressuring me to have sex and smoked a lot of dope. It kind of messed with my mind. We broke up not too long after that. She dumped me because she said that she didn't want to get married although I had not mentioned marriage despite being willing to continue the relationship. For weeks after we broke up, I used to go out, most nights and drink beer or daquiris. Oh well! Your discussion brought back memories. 'Scuse me!

I'd pay 25.00. That's pretty fucking cheap for what I've paid to see bands. I paid about 80 dollars for tickets for my fiance and I to go see the Moody Blues last year. And 50 to see KISS just for myself!

Holy shit, they did. And, they played in Cincinatti at Aronoff center..I wanted to see them, so I googled tour dates, and finally came up with this place a month before the show. It was so great, and this place was very nice..And it was small, compared to most arenas. It had levels, but you could really see the band everywhere. Ah! I loved em'.

Back in 1974, when A1 was not yet a sperm swimming in his daddy's seminal vessicle and computers were bigger than your living room, I never imagined that some of these groups would still be around now. I always thought that by now, the Rolling Stones and others would be long gone and that we'd have some new, wild new form of music. But, SIGH, here we are in 2007, talking about geezers still whacking their drums and twanging their guitars. I figure that another 30 years from now or so, they'll be wheeling in the Rolling Stones, and some of these other groups, on gurneys and in wheel chairs. Mick Jagger will probably sing, "Whoa! Metamucil! Ya make me poop so good, yeah! Whoa! Metamucil! Just like a fiber laxative should now!" A1, heavier and balding on top, will probably still be bitching about them too, ha, ha!! ;> Probably'll listen to 'em as he drives along in his hot electric sportscar of some sort wearing HSC logo shirts with an HSC logo license plate!!
