Has anyone seen that army (technically navy) movie called jarhead? The nature of the movie of course was inteanded to be hard hitting to emotions, but a lot of it was what i expected in a war zone apart from one thing. They made it look like that almost every girl eventually cheated on the military guys while they were away. The more i think about it tyhe more it seems likely. One scene in particular that hit mme harder than any scene in any movie (including bambie) was when one of the troops got a a video from his wife, it was called the hunter, supposedly a movie. He shared it with the rest of the guys cause apparently there was supposed to be porn taped over it. The title for the movie came up then porn cut it.

It showed a woman on a bed getting doggy styled by some guy. She was moaning and the troops were cheering. The guy who had recieved the video from his wife was sitting in the middle of the crowed and softly wispered with desperate breath "thats my wife!", most of the troops didn't hear. he said it again and then said "that's my nieghbour! I lent him my car!".

Then he finally shouts out "THAT'S MY FUCKING WIFE!". everyone in the room went silent then. The man was in tears, and was very distraught, called her a fucking slut and that then some of his freinds took him out of the room. The remaining soilders who stayed in the room looked back. The man's wife had gone up close to the camera and said in a calm and spitefull tone "Who's fucking around now john?".

Basically i put this thread up to ask anyone who had seen the movie about what they thought and felt when they saw that?
personally myself before i saw it i didn't really belive in monogomy, i thought it was more of a cultural thing. In the middle east guys have like 4 wives and it seems to work. Although i would never cheat on anyone cause i couldn't bare hurting them, and being in western culture im ok with commiting. I almost felt betrayed myself when i saw it, good acting on the guys behalf. But i was thinking about why it got to me so much and i think it came down to this:

    1) If the wifes moans were fake and she wasn'y enjoying the sex then she was just moaning to get under her husbands skin. I think the whole point of sex is to be pleasuable, and make people happy. She had sex for hate, not fun nor love and she did it to wreck a man.

2)The wifes moans were because she actually was enjoying it. But what she would have been really enjoying was that the more she liked the sex the more she destroyed her husband.

Either way the use of sex just seemed so very wrong. I thought about why it was being used in such a bad way then figured that the wife was trying to hurt the guy because she wanted him to feel what she had felt with interest. I think she felt hurt and unaprecctiated because her husband had been away so long and she was geting bored. Then i just think that the the wife was hurt, the husband was hurt, publically humiliated in front of his freind, and betrayed by his neighbour and especially the wife he loved, and no one really gets anything from it, cept for a the niegbour who got an easy fuck. All because sex was used for all the wrong reasons.

Everytime i thin about the scene and it just makes my stomcah churn and twist as i imagine the look on the guys face ( i was at a party the other night and brang the scene up, i got an imediate reaction, most saying that they can't remember much what the wife did but they vividly remember the guys reaction and the look on his face). It made me very depressed for a month afterwards, and for the next week after i saw it every time i'd think of it i'd just get so angry and cry.

    I saw it.

Sex is often used for the wrong reason. Notice the word "USED"

I knew girls when younger that USED it.

Glad to be in the mature bracket now :)

Actually the fact that the wife said, "Who's fucking around now John?" says to me that the husband had probably cheated (fucked around) on her in the past and making the video was her way of getting revenge. Seems like it was pretty effective. However, I'm not sure I would go to such lengths to get back at a cheating husband and would probably just leave the bastard.

I'm not sure why this affected you emotionally so much. I guess the lesson to be learned from this is, never give a woman a reason to do something like that to you.

I don't normally correct people on technical content but jarhead is actually about guys in the U.S. Marine Corps and not Army or Navy. Although the Marine Corps does come under the U.S. Department of the Navy, the Marines are their own entity and having worked with a few Marines I know they will be insulted if you call them anything other than Marines (or Jarheads or Leathernecks). It's a pride in your service thing.

And also having been in the military for a few years now, I know of a lot of marriages that don't work. There are funny true stories of how cheating spouses have informed their other halves that the marriage isn't what they thought it was.

All in all I'd say that cos we're away from home so often cheating does occur a lot but that does not mean that everyone does it. It seems to be more dependant on personality type than anything else. I've even seen friends who effectively had "open marriages" in that when we deploy they both cheat on each other but didn't know the other cheats and then lie to each other when we get home. It can get quite amusing in a sick sort of way for someone who has no involvement in what's occured.

I don't know why you'd let a movie affect you to such an extent but I do know that as many military relationships that fail, there are atleast the same number that work. It comes down to the people involved.

300 is good, but it isn't about a traditional army. It's cooler.
