Abused Woman orders pizza from 911-saves life

    So glad the dispatcher caught that she was in trouble rather than hanging up on her..

    I thought it was illegal (or at the very least against protocol) for dispatchers to terminate calls to 9-1-1... :confused:

    Good thinking on her part, and on the dispatchers for catching on. In the rural county I live in, a deputy is dispatched any time a call comes into 911. Wrong number (?), kid playing with phone, hang up, changed my mind everything OK. An officer will eventually be knocking on your door.

    No, I'm pretty sure get the point - woman calls 9-1-1 under duress but has to pretend to be ordering a pizza to keep herself as safe as possible given the situation.

    I was just confused by danrb's comment regarding luck that the 9-1-1 operator didn't hang up. Thought I may have misunderstood how Emergency Services work all these years.
