I love reading honest stories like this one where the writer is open about the contradictions with which we all live.
I know I experience the same dilemma when watching porn..always wondering in the back of my mind whether the girl is doing it because she chooses to or not.
On a lighter note, I laughed out loud at the Pollock comment.
I really dug it for its openness and honesty too Maria....and YES the Pollock comment made me laugh out loud too! good catch ;-)
I'm in the same boat. I try my best to be conscious and conscientious... but then I feel like I throw all my views out the window once I open up that porn folder on my computer.
Really - even though it's not particularly fun or exciting - the most you can do is put a bit of time into research before viewing and hope you can find studios/directors/stars that aren't total sleaze or perpetuating the Porn Is Evil stigma. Fortunately, people who are in the adult entertainment industry are generally really open about stuff like why they're in it, did _____ company treat them well or not, and all that sort of stuff.
Good read. Yeah , seems to have been written very honestly and she touches on several points.
So you actually read what porn stars have to say? and where would you find that info???
I'll stop here 'cause I ran out of shocked emoticons LOL
Honestly, for getting to know your stars your best tool is Twitter/Instagram (mostly fluff posts, but some serious stuff). Some stars have personal blogs that they update regularly on their sites. Or you can find it through newsletters from Gamelink or other similar vendors. There are also plenty of articles that have been published (never through "credible" or "mainstream" sources, but they're out there) of interviews with porn stars. Like I said, it takes some researching - a bit beyond a quick Google search - but it's possible to actually learn about these people as... well, people.
