In a few hours I will wake, pack my bag and set off on my Buck's weekend.

6 of my closest friends and I have hired a 45 foot house boat for the weekend to cruise around the Hawkesbury River (Sydney) for three days and two nights.

So, anyway, you get the picture. It looks like paradise right?? Well, here is my fear...

A bunch of guys out on the water for a couple of days might start thinking about ways to amuse themselves, and what better way than to torture or play tricks on the groom to be :nerv

Now... They are all supposed to be mature adults but...

I have sent a memo out to all the guys stating that if an eyebrow gets shaved or I get chucked into the river my bride-to-be will crack skulls :yell

I hope that scared them off...

Has anyone had a horrible experience right before their wedding (on a buck's night, etc) as a result of close friends especially, or have the pre-wedding celebrations been a wonderful lead up to the marriage?

Oh dear,...I hope you do realize now that you've given them this "warning" that they're going to do something for sure. If anything you should be giving your bride-to-be a warning, or at least a "prepare for the worst" pep talk.

Here in Sweden, every bride and groom must endure the Svensexan before the wedding. It's kind of like a Bachelor/ette Party only much more public and involved. You friends will kidnap you, dress you in something ridiculous, and make you do something silly and embarrassing. One instance I can recall involved dressing the groom in a Superman costume and making him mow the lawn on the traffic circle in the middle of the town, with lots of cars driving by.

Good luck to you, and congratulations too!

That sounds like fun! Like a marriage "hazing"...and so much more dignified and creative than getting drunk off your ass and groping naked people :eyes

Good luck, sleep with one eye open, and have fun, babe!

Mississippi. But after we payed for that 150 HP motor we were so broke
    we couldn't do it.
But have fun Cookie It doesn't happen much in a lifetime.
Hope you don't become a GOAST After
marriage as a lot of people do.

Ive been on a few bucks nights but the mates I used to knock about with played pretty hard....
One ended with the groom being tarred and feathered while chained to a traffic light in the middle of town....:eek
Yet another finished with the drunken groom being put on a train to the next state in his underwear..with no money or ID...the day before the wedding.....:ugh
Have a great time Cookie...and be thankful I didnt get an invite ok...:brow

I didn't get a hazing at all, Anyways we called it Belling
In my little neck of the woods. and happened on the wedding night.
My son just got married and had a bachelors party, everyone got
two sheets to the wind and threw each off the balcony in His house
into the couch below. Well they missed the couch with him.

We had a great time, catching fish, eating and drinking very well and just loving our surroundings.

Well, it's all over and not a shaved eyebrow to speak of. I think my mates were a little scared of my fiance's reaction. Thanks for all the nice comments guys. :tup

Yeah, I have heard some horror stories from my mates and that is why I was a little bit worried. You wouldn't have liked the trip HW as the boat only reached a top speed of about 6 - 8 nautical miles an hour :(

I wouldn't desert this place Hiker. I love it here too much ;)

Anyway, now we have to get ready for the big day :nerv followed by a honeymoon in Cairns (Northern Queensland) :woohoo

Well, thank goodness you came through it relatively unscathed. So when's the big day?

    What's a GOAST?

Glad to hear it wasn't anything mean and nasty, Cook! I was pretty unscathed by my Bachelor party too (other than a fairly substantial hangover the next morning). We were actually pretty tame.

    Friday 22nd :nerv

I'm not really worried about myself on the day so much, I'm more worried about my partner stressing out about everything being just right. I have tried to ease her workload but she is a massive control freak and needed to redo everything anyway.

Plus the fact that we have hit a couple of snags with the menu and wine list yesterday seemed to have put her in the foulest mood. So I'm just treading on eggshells here with a lot of "Yes Dears :bow".

Oh well, in a couple of days we will be on holiday and we can both laugh about it.
