| | Getting back to the orginal post... I've been a cat owner for 40+ years , have a degree in animal husbandry, worked at a veternarian office, prepped cats and dogs for grooming at a groomer's and sold critters at a mall pet store back in the early 80's. I was also a professional harness horse groom for 8 years and showed my own horses and dogs. My point is, I've been around critters my whole life and I've seen it all. Whoever said that the mother cat is a bigger concern than the tom was correct. Mother cats can and will kill their young for any number of reasons. Most often, when this happens it is because the mother cat is very young and stressed out. I've seen cats do some very dark things and one of the darkest went down when I was around 8 or 9 years old. I came home from school one day to see our female kitten/cat in the process of giving birth. I found two kittens on the kitchen floor still wet, never groomed by their mother. I put them in a box and put the mom in the box as well. The mom wouldn't lay down, she was squirming around, rolling and purring like she was high. She wouldn't hold still to nurse her kittens, and was rolling on top of them squishing them. To add to the weirdness at one point the cat jumped out of the box and ran behind the couch. I heard some weird noises, moved the couch and find her sibling brother mounting her and trying to fuck her AS she was passing afterbirth. It was like the mom cat was giving birth WHILE she was in heat. Very odd. Anyways, that is just one of the weird things I've seen regarding cat birthing. Also, the was the time I opened the sliding door on my elevated closet one day and a kitten head came rolling out.......NO LIE! Apparently, the mom that had a litter in the closet had decided that one was a dud and decapitated it. Yeah, I know, I'm totally gross but, I just felt I had something useful to add to the conversation for a change. Have a nice day! | | |

But that's just my opinion. | Don't see how that was goading, I just love that expression because it is so true. Sorry if it came across that way.
Nice to see you back CL. Where were you??

| | Hey, Loveit, I've been taking a break from my virtual world because my real one has kept me terribly busy. Thanks for asking. | | |
