I think the big thing about cock rings is using them the right way. I had always been putting them on when I was 100% erect, until I found out the way for them to be effective has something to do with putting them on when you are semi erect. I guess somehow they are supposed to help by cutting off circulation just enough to keep you hard, and enough to decrease the sensitivity.

As far as how to go about getting the right one, the best thing I can recommend is to get an accurate measurement, since one that is too big won't be effective, and one that is too small can cause damage. I got mine both online, and by walking into a store and looking around at several. I found one that looked like it would work, and went with it. It probably would have worked well if I knew how to properly use it at the time. I think it may have gotten thrown in the trash quite a while ago.
